Groundhog Day

The Lincoln County Groundhog Association will take part in their 40th annual “caroling” event 4:30 p.m. Thursday. The group will depart from City Hall. Federation of the Blind

The Lincoln County Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind of NC will meet 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at the Senior Center, located on the Gaston College-Lincoln campus, 511 S. Aspen St. in Lincolnton. There will be a guest speaker from Raleigh. The group welcomes any visually impaired or blind persons. Thursday treats

The Lincolnton City Council will conduct its regular monthly meeting 7 p.m. Thursday in the Council Chambers of City Hall. The public is invited to attend.


Relay for Life

Relay for Life of East Lincoln will hold its 2012 Planning Committee meeting 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday at Denver United Methodist Church’s Community Outreach Center followed by a meeting for team captains 7:30-8:30 p.m. All interested parties are encouraged to attend. Relay for Life of East Lincoln will be April 27-28 at East Lincoln High School. Hickory theatre

Miss Valentine pageant

The Miss Gastonia Scholarship Association will present the Miss Valentine Queen Pageant 2:30 p.m. Feb. 12 at the Cherryville Community Building, 106 South Jacob St. in Cherryville. Girls ages 0-19 who live in Gaston, Cleveland and Lincoln counties are eligible to participate. Proceeds benefit the Miss Gastonia scholarship fund. Deadline to enter is Monday. Health Department

The Lincoln County Board of Health will hold a special called meeting 7 p.m. Tuesday in the main conference room of the Health Department, 151 Sigmon Rd. in Lincolnton, to review and approve a budget proposal for FY12-13 and the “2011 State of the County’s Health” Report.
