LHS open house

Lincolnton High School will host an open house 6:30 p.m. Monday. Parents and students will pick up report cards and meet second semester teachers. Informational meetings will follow at 7 p.m. for sophomore and junior students and their parents. For more information, contact the school at (704) 735-3089.
Last Man’s Club

The Last Man’s Club WWII Veterans of Lincoln County will meet 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ryan’s Steakhouse on N. Generals Blvd. in Lincolnton. All WWII veterans and guests are invited to attend. Frances Martin will award one of her handmade quilts to the winner of the raffle drawing.


Nutrition meetings

Lincoln County Senior Services is hosting nutrition meetings on heart health 9:30-11:30 a.m. Wednesday and 2-4 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Lincoln County Senior Center. A meeting will also be 10-11 a.m. Feb. 21 at the East Lincoln Community Center. Balance class

Lincoln County Senior Services is hosting “Matter of Balance,” an eight-session class focused on increasing older adults’ activity levels and reducing their fear of falling. Each session will be 9:30-11:30 a.m. starting Wednesday. Pre-registration is required. For more information on class dates and to register, call (704) 732-9053.
Bible study

A new Bible study will be held Wednesday evenings in the area. An exact location has yet to be determined at this time. A meet and greet will take place 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at 36th Street Bakery and Cafe, 101 N. Court Square in Lincolnton. Light refreshments will be available. Federation of the Blind

The Lincoln County Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind of NC will meet 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at the Senior Center, located on the Gaston College-Lincoln campus, 511 S. Aspen St. in Lincolnton. There will be a guest speaker from Raleigh. The group welcomes any visually impaired or blind persons. Thursday treats

CMC-Lincoln will host “Cooking with Diabetes and Recipe Swap” 3 p.m. Thursday at the Lincoln Medical Plaza as part of February’s “Thursday Treats” series. The event is free to the public. For more information, call (980) 212-6037.


Relay for Life

Relay for Life of East Lincoln will hold its 2012 Planning Committee meeting 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday at Denver United Methodist Church’s Community Outreach Center followed by a meeting for team captains 7:30-8:30 p.m. All interested parties are encouraged to attend. Relay for Life of East Lincoln will be April 27-28 at East Lincoln High School. Hickory theatre

The Hickory Community Theatre presents the final performances of comedy Becky’s New Car on 4-8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at The Firemen’s Kitchen Cabaret Theater, located in the HCT complex at 30 3rd St. NW in downtown Hickory. Volunteers needed

Church lunch

Crouse United Methodist Church, 3311 Crouse School Rd. in Crouse, is hosting lunch 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Donations will be accepted for the building and renovation fund.
Guitar extravaganza

The Episcopal Church of St. Peter By-the-Lake, 8433 Fairfield Forest Rd. in Denver, is hosting Alexander Community Concert: Guitar Extravaganza 2 p.m. Sunday. Dinner Theatre

The Lincoln Theatre Guild is sponsoring a night of Southern food, comedy and music with the performance of Ya’ll, a comedy by Elizabeth Scales Rheinfrank, 7 p.m. Feb. 9-11 and 16-18 at the Lincoln Cultural Center. The Guild is offering free tickets to county seniors for a special performance 3 p.m. Feb. 12. Doors open at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at the Senior Center. Tickets for additional performances are on sale now at the Cultural Center and through lincolntheatreguild.com.
