Sammy G. Wright
Sammy George “Sam” Wright, 58, of 9228 Willis Rd. died Monday, January 23, 2012 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory.
Born in Catawba County on February 24, 1953, he was a son of the late George A. Wright and Maudie Emogene Bumgardner Wright. He was a member of Laurel Hill United Methodist Church and was the co- owner and operator of Wright Brothers Tomato Company.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Robbie Jane Harris Wright; two stepsons, Dennis and Jimmy Powell; two stepdaughters, Debbie Lail and Penny Ayotte.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Jamie and Julie Wright of Vale; fiancÃ©e, Vicky Enamait of Vale; brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Frances Wright of Vale; sister and brother-in-law, Helen W. and Gene Fulbright of Vale; stepdaughter, Janice Montgomery of Casar; six grandchildren, Jamie Wright Jr., Brian Wright, Arielle Enamait, Bella Enamait, Lily Enamait and Audrey Enamait; step grandchildren, Ryan Powell of Drexel and Mandi Parker of Casar; two nieces, Connie Reavis of Lawndale and Georgetta Williams of Vale; and a nephew, Robert Smith of Vale
Visitation was held 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Stamey Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. today at Laurel Hill United Methodist Church. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes before the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Officiating will be Revs. Jennifer Hege, Jerry Hudson, Ronnie LeFever, Jimmy Harman.

Richard â€˜Dickâ€™ William Carlson
DENVER â€” Mr. Richard â€˜Dickâ€™ William Carlson, 91, died Tuesday, January 17, 2012. He was born September 4, 1920 in Fairmont City, Pa., the son of Oscar H. and Laura W. Carlson. He served in World War II as a pilot in the Army Air Corps. His career as a pilot with Eastern Airlines covered 27 years. In earlier years â€œDickâ€ was an avid golfer and was always very mechanically inclined.
Mr. Carlson was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Alberta M. â€œGretchenâ€ Carlson and his sister, Marguerite C. Reeser. He is survived by his son, Larry R. Carlson and wife, Joan, of Charlotte; granddaughter, French Hope Carlson of Elon; grandson, R. Daniel Carlson and wife, Dawn, of Raleigh.
Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Salem United Methodist Church, lower level meeting room, 378 N. Pilot Knob Rd., Denver, NC. Funeral services will be private.
The family gives special thanks to Comfort and Lisa and the staff of Partners In Care and to his neighbors for their compassionate care. The family requests memorials be made to the charity of oneâ€™s choice.

Mrs. Mamie Cathleen Burgess Saunders, age 94, of the Brian Center in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, January 24, 2012.

Mrs. Saunders was born November 17, 1917 in Lincoln County to the late James G. and Nina Coleman Burgess. In addition to her parents; she was also preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Jefferson Saunders; three brothers; five sisters; and a granddaughter, Nina Nicole Martin. She worked in textiles.
She is survived by two daughters, Nina Martin and Joanne Hamilton, both of Lincolnton; son, Leonard M. Saunders of Stanley; sister, Edith McCorkle of Lincolnton; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and one step-grandson.

Mr. Douglas William McCraw Jr., age 52, of 2375 Gaston Webbs Road in Lincolnton, died on Monday, January 23, 2012.

Mr. McCraw was born November 4, 1959 in Lincoln County to Douglas William McCraw Sr. and Joyce Carpenter McCraw.Â He worked as a truck driver for Performance Fire Protection.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Richardson McCraw of the home; daughter, Lindsey McCraw Williams and husband, Johnny, of Lincolnton; son, Damon Douglas McCraw, his companion, Emily London and daughter Shelby, of Brevard; brothers, Reggie McCraw and wife Lynda of Charlotte, and David McCraw and wife Shelly of Lincolnton; sister, Tammy Benfield and husband Mark of Lincolnton; grandchildren, Isaac McCraw, Hunter McCraw, Tylan McCraw, and mother of grandchildren, Jamie McCraw and fiancÃ©, Mark Smith; nieces, Shaina McCraw and Kerri Benfield; and nephew, Chase Benfield.
