Two Maiden residents are among three men accused of stealing more than $6,000 in scrap metal from a Gaston County construction company.
Cherryville Police officers spotted the three individuals putting scrap metal into a trailer Thursday at Czerr Construction on Wert Street in Cherryville, according to a police department press release.
The suspects were later identified as Arlin Dale Lindsay, 42, and Brandon Dale Lindsay, 19, both of Maiden, along with 43-year-old Hickory resident Jerry Lee Dockery.
Police said the suspects took a total of $6,500 worth of metal from the business. Authorities also seized an automatic handgun from Arlin Lindsay’s vehicle and found that the trailer they were using had been stolen from a church in Valdese.
All three suspects were charged with one felony count each of larceny and possession of stolen property. Arlin Lindsay additionally faces a misdemeanor charge for carrying a concealed weapon, and Dockery was charged with possession of a stolen trailer.
Both Arlin and Brandon Lindsay remain behind Gaston County bars, each under a $5,000 secured bond. Dockery is being held under a $3,500 secured bond.
Of the three men, Arlin Lindsay is the only one with a North Carolina criminal record. He was convicted of simple assault/affray in Catawba County in 1989, according to the North Carolina Department of Correction website.
