One Lincolnton High School student was arrested in class Thursday morning after allegedly being disruptive, refusing to comply with school officials and law enforcement.
School Resource Officer Brandon Hunsucker responded to Mariah Cinquette Gillespie’s class where the 19-year-old student was refusing to listen to commands of both the teacher and an assistant principal, a report said.
She’s also accused of not yielding to police during her arrest. A report noted that the teen “jerked away numerous times.”
Gillespie, of 411 W. Sycamore Street in Lincolnton, faces multiple charges in the incident including one misdemeanor count each of resisting, delaying and obstructing an officer and disorderly conduct.
She was also charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia after authorities located a marijuana pipe in her purse at the magistrate’s office.
She remains in the Lincoln County jail under a $2,000 secured bond. Her next court appearance is set for Feb. 7.
