PUMPKIN CENTER — The North Lincoln Lady Knights (11-4, 7-0 SPC) took a 94-37 blowout win over the East Lincoln Lady Mustangs on Friday to maintain their unbeaten record in Southern Piedmont Conference play.
The Lady Knights, who were heavily favored in the preseason to take the conference crown, made it look easy against an East Lincoln (4-12, 1-6 SPC) squad that has struggled thus far in conference play.
The Lady Knights jumped out to an early 12-3 lead in the opening minutes of the game, and continued to pummel the East Lincoln defense throughout the rest of the contest. Senior point guard Stephanie Wooten connected on a 3-pointer and two field goals to push the North Lincoln lead to 22-5 in the first quarter, while Lauren Armstrong got on the board with a field goal on an assist from Wooten to close out the first period.
Ace Easter led the Lady Knights in scoring with 22 points while Wooten added 18. The Lady Knights went into the halftime break with a 56-17 lead after a 32-point second quarter, their highest point total in a single quarter during the game.
Easter opened up the second quarter with a layup, followed shortly by a 3-pointer by Nicole Paysour from deep beyond the 3-point line.
Jennifer Allison added a point for East Lincoln on a free throw, but the Lady Knights responded with an 10-0 run that included 3-pointers by Lainey Livernois and Easter, and field goals by Easter and Wooten.
The Lady Knights piled 24 more points onto their lead in the third quarter, while allowing only seven points to the Lady Mustangs. Sarah Barr hit back-to-back 3-pointers that brought the North Lincoln student section to its feet with three minutes left in the third period.
The Lady Knights added 14 points in the fourth quarter, while East Lincoln, though visibly demoralized, had their best quarter of the game and added 13 points to the board.
East Lincoln hosts Bessemer City (2-12, 0-7 SPC) on Friday. North Lincoln hosts Cherryville (10-7, 2-5 SPC), also on Friday.
