Three different stretches of Lincoln County roadways could be resurfaced as early as this spring.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation announced through a press release early last week that they’ve awarded a Charlotte construction company a more than $1 million contract to complete four different construction projects throughout Lincoln and Gaston Counties.
The more than eight miles of roadway should be completed by November.
DOT officials expect the local resurfacing projects to “extend the lifespan of the pavement, improve safety and provide a smoother ride for motorists,” the release said.
The contract was one of 30 that the state government agency handed out to counties across the state this month for various roadway and bridge repairs.
The following Lincoln County roadways are set to be resurfaced:
2.5 miles of Buffalo Shoals Road in Boger City from N.C. 27 to Shuford Road
2.5 miles of Shoal Road north of Cherryville from N.C. 182 to the Gaston County line
1.9 miles of Asbury Church Road in Boger City from N.C. 27 to Old Mill Road.
In addition, more than a mile of roadway will be resurfaced on Bud Black Rd. in Cherryville, from N.C. 150 to the Lincoln County line, authorities said.
