Deputies said a woman claimed three men assaulted her at a western Lincoln County residence earlier this month, including one man who held a gun to her head before strangling her.
According to a report, deputies initially went to a home Friday on the 300 block of Dave Peterson Ln., in the North Brook township, after officers at a Cleveland County hospital contacted them about a man who showed up that week with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his foot.
At the residence, deputies said they spoke with 21-year-old homeowner Billy Wayne Self. During the interview, they also spotted a woman at the home with several lacerations and bruises on her body. Authorities said she had two black eyes, one of which was swollen shut, and several marks on her neck, lip and head.
Deputies said she told them that four days earlier three people inside the residence “took turns assaulting her about the head.â€
In addition, she said Self held a gun to her head and threatened her not to leave the home, choking her until she passed out.
Self was arrested in the incident and charged with felony assault by strangulation along with three separate misdemeanors for assault by pointing a gun, assault on a female and common law false imprisonment. He has since been released from custody on a $15,000 secured bond.
No other arrests were made in the case.
