A Gaston County bus driver was placed in jail Tuesday for inappropriately touching a young girl, police said.
A Cherryville Police statement said Cherryville resident Laurence Oscar Lee Huss, 50, was driving the child’s school bus at the time.
After the girl’s parent notified the principal at W.B. Beam Intermediate School, which she attends, school officials contacted police on Dec. 16.
Huss was arrested following a police investigation and talks with the county’s District Attorney’s Office.
He faces three counts each of indecent liberties and child and sexual battery and is currently being held in the Gaston County jail under a $100,000 secured bond.
Huss is expected to make his first court appearance on Thursday.
