Several hundred pounds of copper were stolen from the Lincoln County Public Works building early Wednesday morning.
A police report said the government building was last secured the previous evening around 5 p.m.
Cameras at the site recorded an intruder entering through one of the facility’s side windows between midnight and 1 a.m., tossing the copper across an outside fence and into a vehicle, police said.
Authorities located vehicle tracks in the property’s grass, and a report noted that between four and five pounds of copper had been left lying in and around the fence area.
A total of 500 pounds of copper was stolen, police said.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
