Republican Women

East Lincoln Republican Women’s Club meets 7 p.m. Tuesday at the East Lincoln Fire Department on S. Pilot Knob Road. This is the last monthly meeting of 2011. 2012 officers will be elected. For more information, call (704) 488-3541.

 

Crouse School Reunion

The Crouse Photo and History project meets 4-6 p.m. Tuesday in the Crouse United Methodist Church fellowship hall. This meeting will review photos and items from the old Crouse School. Former school Principal Robert Payseur will be present to share memories and answer questions. Please bring items that you would like to have scanned for the project between 2-3:45 p.m.

 

AARP Driver Safety

Gaston County Senior Center, 1303 Dallas-Cherryville Hwy. in Dallas, is hosting an AARP driver safety course 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday. The course is free to current and former military, their spouses and children. Advance registration is required. Call (704) 922-2170.

 

Line Dancing

Lincoln County Parks and Recreation is hosting Line Dancing classes at the East Lincoln Community Center, 8160 Optimist Club Rd. beginning 10 a.m. Wednesday. Cost is $3 per class. For more information, call (704) 483-8980.

 

School Board/County Commissioners

The Lincoln County Board of Education and Board of Commissioners will meet jointly 6 p.m. Thursday at the Board of Education offices on North Generals Boulevard in Lincolnton. This meeting is open to the public.

 

City Council

The Mayor and City Council meets 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Council Chambers of City Hall in Lincolnton. The swearing in of elected officials and an organizational meeting will precede the regular monthly meeting which starts at 7 p.m.

 

Singles Christmas Party

First Baptist Church, 201 Robin Rd. in Lincolnton, is hosting a singles holiday event 7 p.m. Thursday in the Family Life Center. All singles over 18 are invited. Gospel group Damascus Road will perform. Please bring a snack food and a wrapped $5-10 gift if you want to participate in a gift exchange game. Call (704) 735-7515 for more information.

 

Observatory Open

The Lucile Miller Observatory, located on the campus of Maiden Middle School, will be open for the monthly public observing beginning 7 p.m. Friday. Weather permitting, the group will observe Jupiter, the moon and the early winter sky. In case of bad weather, an indoor program will be presented. Festival of Trees

The Arts Council of Lincoln County invites everyone to the first Festival of Trees during the month of December. The Festival of Trees is a dazzling array of personalized Christmas trees, a preview reception, silent art auction, live local music performances, celebrity Santas and a homemade cookie sale. There will also be a “best of trees” contest. The event will be at the former CMC-Lincoln Medical Center located at 200 Gamble Drive in Lincolnton.

 

Toy Consignment Sale

Asbury United Methodist Church, Asbury Church Road in Lincolnton, will host a toy consignment sale 7:30-9:30 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. Consignors earn 90% cash from all items sold. Proceeds benefit the church’s Children’s Mission Fund. To consign, e-mail krdellinger@gmail.com.

 

Breakfast with Santa

Hill’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 988 S. Hwy. 16 in Lowesville, will host “Breakfast with Santa” 9 a.m. Saturday. After eating breakfast, children will make crafts and have their pictures taken with Santa. Pictures will be e-mailed to parents. Children should be accompanied by an adult. Job Fair

Lincolnton Furniture Company is having a job fair 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday at the Lincoln School of Technology, 1 Timken Drive in Lincolnton. Positions are available in all manufacturing departments. Managers will be available. Bring your resume or come fill out an application to be part of their team.

 

Denver Christmas Parade

The Denver Christmas parade begins 2:30 p.m. Saturday. The route is on Hwy. 16 Business between N. Pilot Knob Rd. and Triangle Circle. Denver’s tree lighting is 6 p.m. Friday at Lake Norman Lutheran Church.

 

Christmas Bazaar

Zion Hill Baptist Church, 8173 Old NC 18 Hwy. in Lawndale, will host a Christmas bazaar 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday. Breakfast, crafts, baked and canned goods will be available. Call (704) 538-9224 for more information.

 

Westlake Warriors

The Westlake Warriors 10U team will have tryouts 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the Denver Batting Center. The team will play 7-8 tournaments with practices twice a week in the Lake Norman area. Call (704) 900-4124 for more information.

 

Union V.F.D.

Union Volunteer Fire Department will have their annual Christmas dinner 6 p.m. Saturday in the Daniels Lutheran Church fellowship hall, 3170 Reepsville Rd. in Lincolnton. Eleven surviving WWII veterans from the Howard’s Creek Township will be the honored guests of Union’s firefighters, retired firefighters, board members and families.

 

The “Icecycle”

Carolina Faith Riders of Hull’s Grove Baptist Church is sponsoring the 6th annual “Icecyle” toy run beginning 1 p.m. Sunday.  Staging begins at Hull’s Grove Baptist Church, 6670 W. Hwy. 27 in Vale at 12 p.m. New, unwrapped toys will be collected for the children of Lincoln County.
