Deputies believe a teen girl who was staying in a foster home in Lincoln County’s western end may have fled the residence and gone to a biological parent’s home in Catawba County over the weekend.
A resident of the home told deputies that 14-year-old Kaitlyn M. Coronado was in her bedroom around 6 a.m. Saturday. However, by 10 a.m., the teen was nowhere to be found.
The foster parent checked the bedroom where she discovered an open window, according to a Sheriff’s Office press release.
Coronado, who was recently entered as a missing person with the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), is described as being of Hispanic descent. Authorities said she is also approximately 5-foot-1, weighing 130 pounds.
Anyone with information on the teen’s whereabouts is asked to call 911, contact the Lincoln County Communications Center at 704-735-8202 or call the Sheriff’s Office at 704-732-9050.
