Craft Show 2011

St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 4051 King Wilkinson Rd. in Lincolnton, will host a craft show 6-8 p.m. today. A wide variety of fall, winter and Christmas crafts will be available along with candy and baked items. Soup and sandwiches will also be available for purchase.

 

County Commissioners

The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners meets 6:30 p.m. today on the third floor of the Citizens Center, 115 W. Main St. in Lincolnton. The Lincoln County Planning Board will also meet at this time. Both meetings are open to the public.

 

NARFE

The National Association of Retired Federal Employees Chapter 1983 meets 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Ryan’s Steakhouse on N. Generals Boulevard. Call (704) 748-7498 for additional information.

 

Red, White and You

North Lincoln High School Band of Knights will give their final performance of their 2011 field show “Red, White and You” 7 p.m. Tuesday at the school stadium. The award winning show pays tribute to the anniversary of 9-11 and to armed forces and civil servants. The event is free and open to the public.

 

Public Hearing

The Lincoln County Schools Board of Education meets 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the BOE offices on North Generals Boulevard in Lincolnton. The primary purpose of this meeting is to receive public input on three options for school board seats redistricting. The redistricting options are available for review on the Lincoln County Schools website.

 

Diabetes Education

CMC-Lincoln is hosting a “brown bag with the pharmacist” 3 p.m. Thursday at CMC-Lincoln Medical Plaza as part of their diabetes education series. Bag up your medications and discuss them with a pharmacist. This event is free and open to the public. For more information, call (980) 212-6045.

 

Veterans Day Parade

The Lincolnton Veterans Day parade is 11 a.m. Friday. Lineup will be at Fifth Third bank on East Main Street. Following the parade, a brief ceremony will be held on the East side of the courthouse. For more information, call (704) 735-2821.

 

Singing the Blues

Cool John Ferguson and Capt. Luke with the Music Maker Foundation will perform 7 p.m. Friday at the Lincoln Cultural Center, E. Main Street in Lincolnton. Admission is $12 adults and $10 for seniors and students.

 

Dinner Theater

Salem United Methodist Church, N. Pilot Knob Road in Denver, presents “Family Camp” Friday and Sunday. Doors open at 6:30 and the play starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under. Call (704) 483-5563 for tickets or more information.

 

Christmas Bazaar

St. Matthew’s United Church of Christ, 4575 Maiden Highway in Maiden, will host a Christmas bazaar 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. Breakfast will be served 7:30 a.m. Lunch will begin at 11 a.m. and run till 7:30 p.m. Proceeds from the bazaar go to missions and benevolence.

 

Poker Run

Lincoln County CBA-ABATA Poker run starts 10 a.m. Saturday at Al Lane Motorsports in Iron Station. Biscuits and coffee will be provided. Last bike in will be 2:30 p.m. at Trick 1 Customs in Lincolnton, where hot dogs and drinks will be provided. For more information, call (980) 429-6877.

 

Veterans Dinner

Hill’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 988 South Hwy. 16 in Lowesville, will host a covered dish dinner to honor all veterans 5 p.m. Sunday. The event is open to anyone who wishes to attend. Call (704) 827-9511 for more information.

 

Spring Advising

Spring advising and registration for returning students to Gaston College is 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 9-17 at all three campus locations. Spring classes begin Jan. 9, 2012.

 

Blood Pressure Checks

Lincoln Nursing Center is offering free blood pressure checks 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 14 at Walmart in Lincolnton. No appointment is necessary.

 

Garden Club

East Lincoln Community Garden Club meets 10 a.m. Nov. 14 at Webbs Chapel United Methodist Church, 4640 Webbs Chapel Church Rd. in Denver. Gary Fowler and Billy Styles from Organic Footprint in Denver are the guest speakers.

 

Healthy Holiday Foods

Healthy holiday foods will be presented 6:30 p.m. Nov. 15 in the Citizens Center, 115 W. Main St. in Lincolnton. Melinda Houser, Extension Agent, and local individuals with culinary savy will present the program. Samples and a recipe booklet will be provided. Cost is $6 and reservations are required.
