Book Sale

The Lincoln County Public Library will have a book sale 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Citizens Center, W. Main Street in Lincolnton. A wide variety of books, CD’s, DVD’s and VHS tapes will be available. For more information, call (704) 735-8044.


Senior Dance

The Gaston County Senior Center, 1303 Dallas-Cherryville Highway in Dallas, is hosting a senior dance to honor Veterans Day 7-10 p.m. today. The “Country Bucks” will provide musical entertainment. Special refreshments will be provided and tribute will be paid to veterans. Cost is $3 per person. For more information, call (704) 922-2170.


Salem Jewelry Class

Salem Baptist Church, 1984 Salem Church Rd. in Lincolnton, will host a “make your own” jewelry class beginning 8 a.m. today and Saturday. Baked goods and crafts will be on display for sale. Hot dogs will also be served.


Youth Yard Sale

St. Dorothy’s Catholic Church, Hwy. 27 West in Lincolnton, will host a yard sale to benefit a youth mission trip 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday. The sale will include household items, crafts and a large variety of other items.


Old-Fashioned Supper

Hill’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 988 S. Hwy. 16 in Lowesville, is hosting an old-fashioned supper 6 p.m. Saturday. A country ham dinner with old fashioned side dishes, dessert and beverage will be served. Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12. Proceeds will benefit various church projects. Triangle Yard Sale

Triangle Plaza will host the second annual community yard sale beginning 8 a.m. Saturday. Setup for vendors begins at 7 a.m. There is no charge for vendor space. For more information, call Lakeshore BBQ at (704) 489-2328.


Church Carnival

Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 454 Mt. Vernon Church Rd. in Iron Station, will have a carnival in their parking lot 12-4 p.m. Saturday. There will be music, games, food, fun activities and fellowship. For more information, call (704) 735-2299.


Lions Club Pancakes

The third annual Lions Club Pancake Breakfast is 8-10:30 a.m. Saturday at Fatz Café, 1430 E. Main St. in Lincolnton. The breakfast includes pancakes, bacon, sausage and beverage. Cost is $8 adults and $4 for children under age 12. Proceeds provide services for the blind/visually impaired, eye exams and eyeglasses for the needy, and sponsoring of blind campers to Camp Dogwood. Fall Festival

Victory Baptist Church, King Wilkinson Rd. in Denver, will host a fall festival 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. All ages are welcome. Fresh Start Widowed Group of the Greater Gaston Area is sponsoring a dance 7 p.m. Saturday at the Senior Citizens Center, 1303 Dallas-Cherryville Highway in Dallas. Craft Show 2011

St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 4051 King Wilkinson Rd. in Lincolnton, will host a craft show 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and 6-8 p.m. Monday. A wide variety of fall, winter and Christmas crafts will be available along with candy and baked items. Breakfast biscuits, soup and sandwiches will also be available for purchase.


Art Workshop

The Arts Council of Lincoln County is offering an art workshop for kids Saturday at the Lincoln Cultural Center. Workshop times are ages 6-8, 10-11:30 a.m., ages 9-12, 1:30-3 p.m. Workshop participants will create ornaments for the ACLC Christmas tree for the first Festival of Trees. The tree will be on display at the former CMC-Lincoln Hospital at 200 Gamble Drive during December. Kae B. Wright, local artist, is the instructor for the workshop. Cost is $3 per child. Crowell UMC Bazaar

Crowell United Methodist Church, 4018 Killian Road in Lincolnton, will have a fall bazaar 7-11:30 a.m. Saturday. Breakfast will also be served at $6 for adults and $3 for kids. Crafts, baked goods, chicken pies and fried apple pies will be available. For more information, call (704) 735-8889.


Flu Shot Clinic

Unity Presbyterian Church, 8210 Unity Church Rd. in Denver, is hosting a community flu shot clinic 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the church. Medicare and some insurance will be accepted; otherwise the cost is $30 per shot.


Piano Serenade

Jeff Perks, accompanist for the East Lincoln Community Chorus, will present a piano concert 3 p.m. Sunday at The Episcopal Church of St. Peter By-the-Lake, 8433 Fairfield Forest Drive in Denver. Perks is a local talent who has recorded and traveled extensively throughout the south. A reception with refreshments will follow the concert. World Marketplace

Cedar Grove Lutheran Church, 261 Cedar Grove Church Rd. in Vale, invites the public to join them for “Fair Trade World Marketplace” 12-4 p.m. Sunday. Items from Unique World Gifts (Ten Thousand Villages) of Hickory will be on display for sale, benefitting craftsmen from around the world through the program of fair trade. Caregivers Celebration

Lincoln County Senior Services will host a Caregivers Appreciation Celebration 10 a.m. Monday. The event is part of National Caregivers Month for Lincoln County and will honor caregivers who care for loved ones. County Commissioners

The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners meets 6:30 p.m. Monday on the third floor of the Citizens Center, 115 W. Main St. in Lincolnton. The Lincoln County Planning Board will also meet at this time. Both meetings are open to the public.


GED Orientation

The Lincoln Campus of Gaston College will hold a 4-day Basic Skills New Student Orientation class 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 5:30-8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Classes will be in Room 118 of the Lincoln Campus, located on S. Aspen St. in Lincolnton. For more information, call (704) 748-1046.


Bead Group

Lincolnton Bead Group will meet 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Citizens Center, 115 W. Main St. in Lincolnton. Beginners or advanced students are invited to come join the group and make a bracelet, necklace, pin or other fashionable jewelry. An instructor from Gaston College will bring necessary materials. A small fee will be charged by the instructor. The event is sponsored by the Extension and Community Association.

Red, White and You

North Lincoln High School Band of Knights will give their final performance of their 2011 field show “Red, White and You” 7 p.m. Tuesday at the school stadium. The award winning show pays tribute to the anniversary of 9-11 and to armed forces and civil servants. The event is free and open to the public.


Public Hearing

The Lincoln County Schools Board of Education meets 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the BOE offices on North Generals Boulevard in Lincolnton. The primary purpose of this meeting is to receive public input on three options for school board seats redistricting. The redistricting options are available for review on the Lincoln County Schools website.


Diabetes Education

CMC-Lincoln is hosting a “brown bag with the pharmacist” 3 p.m. Thursday at CMC-Lincoln Medical Plaza as part of their diabetes education series. Bag up your medications and discuss them with a pharmacist. This event is free and open to the public. For more information, call (980) 212-6045.


Veterans Day Parade

The Lincolnton Veterans Day parade is 11 a.m. Nov. 11. Lineup will be at Fifth Third bank on East Main Street. Following the parade, a brief ceremony will be held on the East side of the courthouse. For more information, call (704) 735-2821.


Spring Advising

Spring advising and registration for returning students to Gaston College is 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 9-17 at all three campus locations. Spring classes begin Jan. 9, 2012.
