The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Drug Interdiction Criminal Enforcement team reported seizing illegal pills from a West Virginia man Wednesday afternoon during a routine vehicle stop on U.S. 321.

Michael Allen Billings, 20, of Route 19 Trace Branch Hollow in Squire, W.Va., was traveling northbound on U.S. 321 when authorities stopped his 2011 Dodge Charger at a location between Exit 20 and Exit 24, deputies said.

The pills were discovered in Billings’ vehicle during a search. Authorities with the Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit further noted that the confiscated pills were listed under the “heroin controlled substance class of a trafficking amount of heroin,” which is any amount over four grams. According to the arrest warrant, the seizure was between 4 and 14 grams, authorities said.

As a result, Billings faces one felony count each of trafficking heroin by possession and maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance.

He was booked under a $50,000 secured bond and currently remains behind bars.
