Melissa Kathryn Dedmond and Richard Brandon Boothe, both of Charlotte, announce their engagement and upcoming wedding.
Melissa is the daughter of Dr. Keith and Kathy Dedmond of Lincolnton. She is a 1999 Lincolnton High School graduate, and a 2003 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She is also a class of 2007 graduate from Duke University Physician Assistant Program, Masters of Health Sciences. Melissa worked as a Pediatric Surgical Nurse at UNC Childrenâ€™s Hospital from 2003-2005, and while in PA School. She joined the UNC Pediatric Surgery Team as a Physician Assistant from 2007-2009. She is currently employed as a Physician Assistant at Charlotte Dermatology.
Brandon is the son of Glenn and Tami Rainey, step-father and mother of Bedford, Va., and Ricky and Wendy Boothe, father and step-mother of Lynchburg, Va. He is a 2000 graduate of Gretna High School, Gretna, Va. He is a class of 2006 graduate of Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering. Brandon worked as an engineer at Cooper Industries in Roanoke, Va. from 2006-2008, then moved to Charlotte to work at Carrier Corporation from 2008-2010. He is currently employed with Jacobsen, a Textron Company, as a Supplier Quality Engineer.
Melissa and Brandon met six weeks after Melissa moved to Charlotte in the fall of 2009. The wedding is planned for Saturday, November 5, 2011 at First United Methodist Church, N. Tryon St., Charlotte with a reception to follow at Myers Park Country Club, Charlotte.
