Ice Cream for the Cure
Carillon Assisted Living, 440 Salem Church Road, will sponsor an ice cream sale 2 p.m. today to benefit breast cancer research. Ice cream sundaes are $3, a single dip is $1 and double dips are $2. For more information, call (704) 732-0029.

Poetry Lincolnton
Join Poetry Lincolnton 7 p.m. today at the Lincoln Cultural Center for a Halloween Poetry Night. Guest poets Julian Phelps and Mother Poetry will be featured. Mission Yard Sale
Ethiline’s fall mission yard sale is today and Saturday beginning at 7 a.m. The sale is located at 2600 Keever Dairy Farm Road in Lincolnton.

Haunted Trail
The “Old Slaughter House Haunted Trail” to benefit the Humane Society of Lincoln County will be 7 p.m.-11 p.m. this today and Saturday as well as Oct. 28 and 29. The trail is located at 2457 Industrial Park Road in Lincolnton off Clarks Creek Road. Tickets are $10. This event is not recommended for small children.

Boger City BBQ
Boger City United Methodist Church, East Main Street in Lincolnton, will have its Annual BBQ today and Saturday. Today is lunch delivery only to groups, businesses, and schools. The event will be open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday for dine-in or take-out. Price is $8 adults and $5 children 12 and under. For more information, call (704) 735-7513.

Women’s Embrace
Women’s Embrace will host a craft bazaar, bake sale, and breakfast beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday at Faith Baptist Church, 5194 Old Plank Road in Iron Station. Sausage and pancake breakfast will be available 8-10 a.m. The bazaar and bake sale will continue to 2 p.m. Cost of breakfast is $5 adults and $3 children 5 and over.

Daniels Breakfast

8K Run/ 4K Walk
Rhyne Financial, 218 West Main Street in Lincolnton, is sponsoring an 8K run and 4K walk beginning 9 a.m. Saturday. Proceeds benefit the Lincoln County Public Education Foundation. Open House
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 105 Old Tram Street in Lincolnton, is hosting a Family History Center Open house 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Services of the center, purposes for genealogy, research tips and more will be highlighted. For more information, call (980) 241-2523.

Rotary Yard Sale
The Sherill’s Ford/Terrell Rotary Club will have a yard sale 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Sherrill’s Ford Presbyterian Church, opposite the library. Proceeds benefit the Rotary Polio Plus Program to eradicate polio worldwide through inoculation. For further information, call (828) 994-0249.

BBQ and Yard Sale
Maiden Church of God, located at the corner of N. 3rd Ave. and Union Street in Maiden, will host a yard sale 7 a.m. until Saturday. The church will also sell BBQ plates 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Plates are $8. BBQ sandwiches and other items will also be available.

Spaghetti Fundraiser
Crouse United Methodist Women are sponsoring a community spaghetti fundraiser to benefit Johnny Parker, local cancer patient, 4-7 p.m. Saturday at the church. Meal will include salad, bread, desserts and tea. Both dine-in and take-out will be available. Donations will be accepted. The church is located on Old Hwy. 150 in Crouse, across from the Post Office.

Singing Convention
The Lincoln County Singing Convention will be 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Reeps Grove United Methodist Church in Vale. Everyone is invited. For information, call (704) 276-1529.

Ballroom Dance
Foothills Chapter 6065 of USA Dance will have their monthly dance 7:30-10:30 p.m. Saturday at the Hickory Christian Academy in Hickory. Local dance instructor Tony Stafford will teach a one hour class on the Bolero dance. Admission is $5 for members and first-time guests, $8 for non-members and previous guests, and $2 for students. Denver Art Trail
The sixth annual Denver Art Trail will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. This year’s trail features 28 artists at nine different locations. Six new artists will be showing their work.  A Facebook page is available. For more information, call (704) 489-9494.

Diabetes Education

Republican Women’s Meeting

Line Dancing
The Lincoln Cultural Center will host line dancing lessons beginning 7 p.m. Wednesday. Lessons will last six weeks and the cost is $50 per student. Call (704) 732-9055 to pre-register.

Lake Norman Covekeepers will meet 7 p.m. Thursday at the East Lincoln Volunteer Fire Department, 406 South Pilot Knob Road in Stanley. The guest speaker is a corporate executive with a national firm headquartered near the lake. He will address water quality and environmental respect from both corporations and individuals. WLHS Reunion
The West Lincoln High School graduates of the classes of 1981 and 1982 will have a combined reunion the weekend of Oct. 28-30. The Main event will be 7 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Little Big Horn Restaurant. A group of Lincolnton High Class of ’65 graduates has been meeting for lunch at various locations since June. The next meeting will be 12 noon Nov. 1 at Court Street Grill.

Caregivers Celebration
Lincoln County Senior Services will host a Caregivers Appreciation Celebration 10 a.m. Nov. 7. The event is part of National Caregivers Month for Lincoln County and will honor caregivers who care for loved ones.
