Lincoln Cultural Center is hosting a “date night” 7 p.m. today. Come and enjoy a spaghetti dinner and an improv comedy show with “Chasing Parked Cars.” Cost is $12 per person for dinner and show or $5 for just the show. Show starts at 8 p.m.

“Chili for Children” fundraiser is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today. This event benefits the Lincoln County Foster Children Program. Cost is $5, and delivery is available for orders of 10 or more. Call (704) 736-1155 for more information.

Crouse United Methodist Women will have their annual Yard/Bake/Hotdog Sale 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Sausage biscuits will be available in the morning and hot dogs will be available by 11 a.m. Baked goods will be available while they last. The church is located on Old Hwy. 150 in Crouse, across from the Post Office. Money raised will be used for mission projects.
Operation Santa USMC will sponsor a pancake breakfast 8-10:30 a.m. Saturday at Fatz Cafe in Lincolnton. Cost is $8 adults and children 11 and under $3. Proceeds go toward filling and sending Christmas stockings to deployed troops.
St. Luke’s Lutheran Church is hosting a chicken pie/chicken dumplings/stew beef supper 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday. Live bluegrass/gospel music from 5-7 p.m. The church is located at 4051 King Wilkinson Road. All proceeds benefit the church building fund.

There will be a dance beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Gaston Senior Citizens Center, 1303 Dallas-Cherryville Highway in Dallas. Entertainment will be provided Jo Jo’s Music Mix, with band leader James Bates. Cost is $5. For more information, call (704) 865-5663.

The third annual Hunger Walk to benefit Christian Ministries is 3 p.m. Sunday. Take a stroll down Main Street of Lincolnton for either a one or two mile walk to help raise money for those in need. Concert pianist Ricky Sharp will perform 3 p.m. Sunday in the Timken Performance Hall of the Lincoln Cultural Center. The event is free. However, a love offering for the Lincoln County Coalition against Child Abuse will be taken. Attendees are invited to a reception following the concert hosted by the women of St. Matthew’s Church of Christ.

Lincoln Charter School Board Meeting is 6 p.m. Monday at the Denver Campus. This meeting is open to the public.

Lincoln County Parks and Recreation announces the opening of Block Smith Gym, 130 Rhodes Street in Lincolnton, beginning Monday. The gym will be open for walkers from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday each week. For more information, call (704) 748-1518.

The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners meets 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Citizens Center on West Main Street in Lincolnton. This meeting is open to the public.

The City of Lincolnton Planning Board meets 4 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall. This meeting is open to the public.

The Business and Professional Women’s Club of Lincolnton will be hosting a luncheon Tuesday, October 18th at 11:45 at the Lincoln Cultural Center.  This is in honor of National Business Women’s Week.  Former Women of the Year will be honored.  Leigh Guth will be the guest speaker.  Cost is $10 for members and $15 for guests. The Lincoln Campus of Gaston College will host College Information Night 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. Staff will be on hand to answer questions for anyone looking to begin or continue their college education or add to their professional development. The West Lincoln High School graduates of the classes of 1981 and 1982 will have a combined reunion the weekend of Oct. 28-30. The Main event will be 7 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Little Big Horn Restaurant.
