BOARD OF EDUCATION

The Lincoln County Schools Board of Education meets 6:30 p.m. today at the Board offices on North Generals Boulevard in Lincolnton. This meeting is open to the public.

 

HOWARD’S CREEK VFD

FALL FESTIVAL

Tabernacle Christian, 2128 Dallas-Cherryville Highway, will host their annual fall festival 7 p.m. Friday. There will be activities and games for all ages.

DATE NIGHT

Lincoln Cultural Center is hosting a “date night” 7 p.m. Friday.

Come and enjoy a spaghetti dinner and an improv comedy show with “Chasing Parked Cars.”

Cost is $12 per person for dinner and show or $5 for just the show. Show starts at 8 p.m.

 

CHILI FOR CHILDREN

“Chili for Children” fundraiser is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. This event benefits the Lincoln County Foster Children Program. Cost is $5, and delivery is available for orders of 10 or more. Call (704) 736-1155 for more information.

 

N. BROOK FESTIVAL

North Brook Elementary School will host a fall festival 5-8 p.m. Friday. Games, food, inflatables, silent auction, and hayrides will be featured. Call (704) 276-2479 for more information.

 

YARD SALE

Crouse United Methodist Women will have their annual Yard/Bake/Hotdog Sale 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Sausage biscuits will be available in the morning and hot dogs will be available by 11 a.m. Baked goods will be available while they last. The church is located on Old Hwy. 150 in Crouse, across from the Post Office. Money raised will be used for mission projects.

 

ST. LUKE’S SUPPER

St. Luke’s Lutheran Church is hosting a chicken pie/chicken dumplings/stew beef supper 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday. Live bluegrass/gospel music will be from 5-7 p.m. The church is located at 4051 King Wilkinson Road in Lincolnton. All proceeds benefit the church building fund.

 

SENIORS DANCE

There will be a dance beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Gaston Senior Citizens Center, 1303 Dallas-Cherryville Highway in Dallas. Entertainment will be provided Jo Jo’s Music Mix, with band leader James Bates. Cost is $5. For more information, call (704) 865-5663.

 

ASBURY CHICKEN PIE

Asbury United Methodist Church, Asbury Church Road in Lincolnton, will host a chicken pie supper beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday. Price is $7 for adults and $4 for children. Delivery is available for five or more plates. Call (704) 735-6448 for more information.

 

HARVEST CARNIVAL

HUNGER WALK

The third annual Hunger Walk to benefit Christian Ministries is 3 p.m. Sunday. Take a stroll down Main Street of Lincolnton for either a one or two mile walk to help raise money for those in need. CONCERT PIANIST

Concert pianist Ricky Sharp will perform 3 p.m. Sunday in the Timken Performance Hall of the Lincoln Cultural Center. The event is free. However, a love offering for the Lincoln County Coalition against Child Abuse will be taken. Attendees are invited to a reception following the concert hosted by the women of St. Matthew’s Church of Christ.

 

CHARTER BOARD

Lincoln Charter School Board Meeting is 6 p.m. Monday at the Denver Campus. This meeting is open to the public.

 

BLOCK SMITH GYM

Lincoln County Parks and Recreation announces the opening of Block Smith Gym, 130 Rhodes Street in Lincolnton, beginning Monday. The gym will be open for walkers from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday each week. For more information, call (704) 748-1518.

 

COMMISSIONERS

The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners meets 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Citizens Center on West Main Street in Lincolnton. This meeting is open to the public.

 

BOWLS POSTPONED

The “Empty Bowls” event at Rising Sun Pottery in Lincolnton has been postponed to Tuesday due to threat of heavy rain for the original date. For more information, call (704) 735-5820.

 

CITY PLANNING

The City of Lincolnton Planning Board meets 4 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall. This meeting is open to the public.

 

CANDIDATES FORUM

The Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce will host a candidates forum in advance of the upcoming city elections 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Lincoln Cultural Center. This forum is open to the public.

 

SPOOKS PARADE

The City of Cherryville and Cherryville Chamber of Commerce are co-hosting the ninth annual Little Spooks Parade at 10 a.m. Oct. 28 on Main Street. Area daycare centers, police and fire departments and Cherryville High School band members will march in the parade. The public is invited to attend the free event in costume.

 

PANTRY CLOSED

Two Fish and Five Loaves Food Pantry is closed for restocking. The pantry will resume its normal schedule of every other Saturday on November 12. Donations are welcome. Contact Without Walls Freedom Center at (704) 240-4411 to make donations or for more information.
