Pedestrian dies in Lowesville hit-and-run

A young man was killed following a hit-and-run incident near Lowesville Sunday in southeastern Lincoln County.

Emergency Medical Services told the Lincoln Times-News Monday morning that the Communications Center received a call just after midnight regarding a possible pedestrian struck at 2042 Hines Circle Road in Stanley, which is the postal address for the Lowesville area, located, just south of Denver.

All units were dispatched to the scene, Deputy EMS Director Ted Mankowski said.

Upon arrival, authorities said they spotted the 24-year-old victim lying on the side of the road with fatal injuries.

However, the car that was involved in the incident was no longer at the scene, Mankowski noted.

The man was pronounced dead, and the incident was turned over to law enforcement for further investigation of a “possible crime scene,” authorities said.

In addition, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and medical examiner were notified of the fatality.

East Lincoln Fire Department also responded to Sunday’s incident.

The man’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
