TONING CLASS

HOUSING AUTHORITY

The Public Housing Authority meets 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Housing Authority Office on McBee Street in Lincolnton. This meeting is open to the public.

 

COVEKEEPERS

The Lake Norman Covekeepers will meet 7 p.m. Thursday at East Lincoln Volunteer Fire Department, 406 Pilot Knob Road in Stanley. Catawba Riverkeeper David Merryman is the guest speaker and will discuss current and future projects and activities. For more information, call (704) 489-6249.

 

QUILT SHOW

Piecemakers Quilt Guild is hosting the Quilted Treasures 2011 quilt show 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday at First Baptist Church, 201 Robin Road in Lincolnton. Vendors, demonstrations, boutique and other items will be featured. Call (704) 677-2775 for more information.

 

TRACTOR PULL

The Pumpkin Center Volunteer Fire Department Truck and Tractor Pull will be held Friday (Sept. 23) at 7:30 p.m. Tickets sold for last week’s event (which was postponed due to threat of inclement weather) will be honored at Friday’s event. For more information, call (704) 902-9236.

 

KARE ABOUT KIDS

The 3rd annual Kare about Kids fundraiser will be Saturday at Cherryville Golf and Country Club. A silent auction, poker run, and classic and custom car cruise-in will be part of the event to raise funds for needy children in the Cherryville area to have a better Christmas. BBQ FUNDRAISER

ROSE SHOW

The 38th Annual Rose Show hosted by the Cleveland/Lincoln County Rose Society will be Noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Cleveland County Mall, 2001 East Dixon Blvd. in Shelby. The public is invited to come and see unusual roses and to get their questions answered by the Society’s Consulting Rosarians. Rose arrangements and cut roses will be sold at reasonable prices. ALPACA FARM DAYS

Good Karma Alpacas Ranch will participate in 2011 National Alpaca Days 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The ranch is located at 1041 Brevard Place Road in Iron Station. CLOWN ‘SKOOL’

Charlie’s Chaplains Clown “Skool” will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Education Classroom at Frye Regional Medical Center, with registration from 8-9 a.m. The registration fee is $35. KUDZU FESTIVAL

May’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 1707 May’s Chapel Church Road in Maiden, will host a Kudzu Festival and Bazaar 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. ST. LUKE’S EVENTS

St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 315 S. Cedar Street in Lincolnton, has several events on Sunday. A homecoming luncheon will be held in the Parish House after the 10:30 a.m. worship service.
