PLANNING BOARD

The City of Lincolnton Planning Board meets 4 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall. This meeting is open to the public.

 

BLOOD DRIVE

LIONS CLUB AUCTION

Lincolnton Lions Club members are encouraged to bring auction items to their annual Fun Night, 7 p.m. Tuesday at Ryan’s Steakhouse. Those planning to eat should arrive at 6:30 p.m. Prospective members are welcome.

 

LINCOLN SQUARES

BOOTCAMP CLASS

A free BootCamp Class will be 8-9 p.m. Tuesday at Dancer’s Edge Studio in downtown Lincolnton. Participants will learn how to start a healthy workout routine. For more information, call (828) 429-4607.

HOUSING AUTHORITY

The Public Housing Authority meets 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Housing Authority Office on McBee Street in Lincolnton. This meeting is open to the public.

 

COVEKEEPERS

The Lake Norman Covekeepers will meet 7 p.m. Thursday at East Lincoln Volunteer Fire Department, 406 Pilot Knob Road in Stanley. Catawba Riverkeeper David Merryman is the guest speaker and will discuss current and future projects and activities. For more information, call (704) 489-6249.

 

QUILT SHOW

Piecemakers Quilt Guild is hosting the Quilted Treasures 2011 quilt show 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday at First Baptist Church, 201 Robin Road in Lincolnton. Vendors, demonstrations, boutique and other items will be featured. Call (704) 677-2775 for more information.

 

KARE ABOUT KIDS

The 3rd annual Kare about Kids fundraiser will be Saturday at Cherryville Golf and Country Club. A silent auction, poker run, and classic and custom car cruise-in will be part of the event to raise funds for needy children in the Cherryville area to have a better Christmas. ROSE SHOW

The 38th Annual Rose Show hosted by the Cleveland/Lincoln County Rose Society will be Noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Cleveland County Mall, 2001 East Dixon Blvd. in Shelby. The public is invited to come and see unusual roses and to get their questions answered by the Society’s Consulting Rosarians. Rose arrangements and cut roses will be sold at reasonable prices. ALPACA FARM DAYS

Good Karma Alpacas Ranch will participate in 2011 National Alpaca Days 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The ranch is located at 1041 Brevard Place Road in Iron Station. CLOWN ‘SKOOL’

Charlie’s Chaplains Clown “Skool” will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Education Classroom at Frye Regional Medical Center, with registration from 8-9 a.m. The registration fee is $35. KUDZU FESTIVAL

May’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 1707 May’s Chapel Church Road in Maiden, will host a Kudzu Festival and Bazaar 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. ST. LUKE’S EVENTS

St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 315 S. Cedar Street in Lincolnton, has several events on Sunday. A homecoming luncheon will be held in the Parish House after the 10:30 a.m. worship service. The drawing of Art Raffle items will take place during the luncheon. Raffle tickets are $5 and are available at some downtown businesses and during the homecoming celebration on Sunday.

 

EAKER REUNION

PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB

The Lincoln Photography Club will meet 7 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Lincoln Cultural Center, 401 E. Main Street in Lincolnton. Photography educator Dave Kelly will discuss working with histograms.

 

STANLEY CREEK RUN

The 3rd annual Stanley Creek Massacre 5K and 10K races will be October 1 in downtown Stanley. These races provide a hilly/challenging race experience. The race starts at 8 a.m. Registration is $20 by Sept. 23. For more information, call (704) 922-2160.
