Lincoln County Pirates
The Lincoln County Pirates Pop Warner Football are still having signups for its exclusive 9-year-old team. Every child is 9 years old, no exceptions.
Registration is $25.
Signups are also available for total instructional 5 and 6-year-old teams.

Bar H Demolition Derby
The Bar H Arena will host the 2009 International Demolition Derby at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. This is the demolition derby featured at the Cleveland County Fair for the past 25 plus years. The event has been moved because of contract changes.
Derby star drivers will compete for cash prizes and trophies and of course the prestige that comes with the International Demolition Derby title. The derby will have an open class for any year vehicles, 1980’s and up vehicle class and a mini car class. There will be heat races and features.
The Boiling Springs Rural Fire Department will handle concessions and parking. Plans are under way to have a varied selection of food. There is no charge for parking but donations will be accepted.
Any profits for the event will remain in our area. There is no out of state involvement to take any of the profits to another area.
Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for kids 6-12 years old. Children under 6-years-old will be admitted free. No fair ticket is necessary at the Bar H Arena.

Benefit Golf Tournament
The Dr. Murphy Cronland Golf Tournament to benefit Helping Hands Health Clinic in Lincolnton will be held Monday, September 28 at Catawba Country Club.

WLHS Golf Tourney
The West Lincoln High School Sports Boosters Club is having a golf tournament on October 3 at the Lincoln Country Club in Lincolnton.
Lunch will be served at Noon followed by a 1:30 p.m. Shotgun start to kick off the tournament.
The tournament will be a four-man Captain’s Choice and will cost $55 per golfer or $220 per team.

Lakeshore Church Soccer
The Lakeshore Church, PCA sports ministry is preparing for its 15th soccer season. The ministry provides a fun, relaxed, non-threatening sports environment, promoting Christian sportsmanship for God’s glory.
Registration is open for 6 year olds through rising 7th graders. A child must be age 6 by October 15, 2009 in order to register.
Registration dates are Tuesday from 6-7:30 p.m.
All players planning to register are required to attend one of the registration dates, with a parent, for skills assessment and proper uniform sizing. The fields are located at the church, 8083 Hope Drive off Graham Road. (From Unity Church Road, turn right onto Graham, then left on Hope Drive.)
Fees for 2009 are $85 per child with a maximum fee of $230 for an entire family.
Registration is free for all Lakeshore Church members and regular Lakeshore Church attendees. Practices will be on one of four evenings (Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays).
Practices will begin the week of Monday, August 25th with the annual season “kick-off” and pep rally on Friday September 11th.
All games will be played on Saturdays beginning September 12th with the last games and awards on Saturday, October 31st.

Youth Golf Tournament
The element youth ministry of Covenant Bible Church will host their second annual golf tournament on October 17 at the Lincoln Country Club. There will be a 1:30pm Shotgun start. All proceeds will benefit youth scholarships for camps, mission trips and other youth events.
The tournament will be a four-person captain’s choice. The cost is $50 per person or $200 per team. Teams may come together or individuals can be placed on a team.
Registration fees include cart and greens fee, hamburger and hot dog supper, refreshments on the course, and mulligans.
Sign-up and registration must be before by October 11. There will be prizes for first and second place, closest to the pin on par 3’s, longest drive and raffle prizes.

LHS passes on sale
Lincolnton High School is selling football and all-sport passes.
Football season passes are $20 while all-sport passes are $75.
Passes can be purchased at The Drug Store in Lincolnton or at Kate McCall.
