The rising cost of gasoline prices makes traveling long distances difficult for many vacationers.
Cross Country Campground in Denver provides campers a place to get away from the stress of everyday life without having to break the bank.
“The campground is located in a wooded area but we are just minutes from shopping and hiking trails,†Ronnie Wise, manager of the campground, said.
Wise says that Cross Country is a “year-round campground†with about 400 campsites.
First time campers should not hesitate to pack up the car and leave the luxuries of home behind. Cross Country offers campers a perfect blend of the outdoors with the amenities of home.
Cross Country has three bathhouses, a laundry facility, and clubhouse.
“We are a very attractive campground,†he said. “We provide our customers with security and we are very family-oriented.â€
The majority of the campsites have full-service hook-ups, he said.
“We also provide campers with amenities such as water and electricity.â€
Wise says that the campground has been “in business for over 30 years.†Cross Country Campground is dedicated to making campers relaxed and enjoyable.
Campers can enjoy activities such as putt-putt, basketball, tennis, and fishing in the campground pond.
Cross Country Campground schedules a variety of activities throughout the year.
“We have pool tournaments, horseshoe contests, and cookouts,†Wise said.
Wise says that the next major event will be over the Easter holiday. The campground will have games for kids and golf cart parades.
Area attractions include Lake Norman State Park, the Catawba River, and shops in Denver.
Wise says that “popular race shops are nearby in Mooresville†and Lowes Motor Speedway is only an hour away.
The Cross Country business office says that the “Spring and Summer months are the busiest time of the year.
Business personnel suggest that campers make reservations as soon as they know when they want to camp, especially during a holiday weekend.
“The nightly rate for a campsite is $30,†Wise said. “If campers rent a site for a week, the seventh night is free.â€
