The Lincoln County Sheriffâ€™s Office first Citizens Police Academy begins Monday.
The 11-week class will be held 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday nights and will run through graduation ceremonies Nov. 13.
During the course, the 28-member class will be schooled on court procedures, criminal investigations, narcotics investigations, domestic violence, crime prevention, juvenile procedures, weapons and the use of force, patrol procedures and community policing.
Instructors for the sessions will be state and local officials and officers who deal with each course subject on a daily basis.
1st Sgt. Erin Long established the program and is the overall course instructor.
