Lincolnton Legends
The Lincolnton Legends USSSA baseball tryouts for the 13-and-under team will be held in February.

Come out and walk
Lincolnton/Lincoln County Parks and Recreation Department has announced that the Block Smith Gym is now open to the public for the W.A.L.K. program (Walk at Lunch Klub).
The gym will be open from 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Monday – Friday, except for holidays, through May 25.
The program is open to adults and is provided as an opportunity to get regular exercise without having to worry about inclement weather.
This year’s theme is ‘Walking Across America.’

Lifeguard training
The Lincoln County American Red Cross sponsored lifeguard training class that was to begin on Jan. 30 has been postponed to start on Feb. 13.
The class will meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6-9 p.m. at the Lincoln County Family YMCA in Lincolnton.
The cost for the course is $165 which includes: training, books, pocket mask, certification cards and use of equipment . Registration is currently being taken. Deadline for registration is Monday, Feb. 12. For more information, please call Jenny (704) 716-4595.

Softball meeting
There will be an organizational meeting for men’s open and industrial softball leagues on Feb. 21 at the Lentz Recreation Center at Betty G. Ross Park.
The meeting will be at 7 p.m. Interested teams should have a representative at this league meeting. This is only a preseason meeting planned. Entry fee, rule changes, home fun limits and preseason practices will be addressed at this meeting.

WL Sportsmanship
West Lincoln will hold its spring sportsmanship meeting Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. in the new gym.
All prospective spring athletes should attend with at least one parent/guardian.

Special Olympics
Special Olympics of Lincoln County will have their annual Bowling Competition on Thursday, Feb. 22 at Pin Station in Newton.
Approximately, 200 athletes from Lincoln County will participate in this event. Opening ceremonies will begin at 9:30 a.m.

Kinderdance program at YMCA
The Kinderdance program is designed to teach young students the basics of ballet through charming steps and graceful arm movements.
Kinderdance is for kids ages 3-6 and will run from Feb. 20 – March 22. Cost is $36 for members and $50 for non-members.
The 3-4 age group will meet on Tuesdays from 4-5 p.m., while the 5-6 age group will meet on Thursdays from 4-5 p.m.
Registration started on Jan. 15 and will last until Feb. 19.

‘Lil Kickers’ Soccer
This soccer program at the YMCA is for boys and girls ages 3-6, who want to have fun learning to play the game.
This program will be held on Saturday mornings beginning on March 3 and ending on March 31.
All matches will be played at the Lincoln County Family YMCA gym. Matches will go from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Lifeguard training
On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the YMCA will host an American Red Cross lifeguard training course from 6 – 9:30 p.m.
