Elmores to celebrate their 60th anniversary

Lee and Madeline Elmore will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Christmas day. They were married at Madeline’s parents’ home on Dec. 25, 1946.
Lee is the son of the late Lee and Ola Elmore and Madeline’s parents were the late Frank and Elizabeth Sain. The families lived in Lincolnton.
Both Lee and Madeline graduated from Lincolnton High School, where Lee was a member of the football team. Lee served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific assigned to the destroyer escort, USS Spangler.
After living in Lincolnton for several years, the couple moved to Charlotte, where Lee was employed for 40 years with Suburban Propane Gas Co. Madeline had a 25-year career with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System.
The couple returned to Lincolnton in 1983, where Lee opened the Lincolnton Antique Mall and Madeline began the renovation of their historical house on West Main Street.
Both Lee and Madeline are active members of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and volunteer in numerous community activities. Madeline was named Woman of the Year for 2006.
The Elmore children are Ann and Bob Berlam, Mickie, Eddie and Bill and Beth Elmore. The couple has several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
They will celebrate at home with family over the holidays.
