Flotillas 17-6 and 17-8 of the Coast Guard Auxiliary are offering boating skills and seamanship courses 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday, June 17 at the Shepherdâ€™s Volunteer Fire Department on N.C. 21 in Mooresville. Alexis, Denver, Pumpkin Center and East Lincoln Fire Departments are holding a community meeting 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the East Lincoln Community Center on Optimist Club Road. Steve Allen, with Solutions 4 Local Government, will listen to input.
An introduction to boating safety will be 7 p.m. Monday, June 12, at the Florence Shanklin Memorial Library. A certified boating instructor will conduct the course and refreshments will be served.
