Flotillas 17-6 and 17-8 of the Coast Guard Auxiliary are offering boating skills and seamanship courses 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday, June 17 at the Shepherd’s Volunteer Fire Department on N.C. 21 in Mooresville. Cost is $40 and lunch will be available at a small additional cost. To get further information or to register, call (704) 663-3333.

Alexis, Denver, Pumpkin Center and East Lincoln Fire Departments are holding a community meeting 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the East Lincoln Community Center on Optimist Club Road. Steve Allen, with Solutions 4 Local Government, will listen to input.

An introduction to boating safety will be 7 p.m. Monday, June 12, at the Florence Shanklin Memorial Library. A certified boating instructor will conduct the course and refreshments will be served.

Renea Henderson, also known as Iama Klutz, will perform 10 a.m. Friday at Capt’n Pete’s restaurant on N.C. 150 Denver. The cost is $6 and reservations must be made by Sunday. For more information, call Celia and Paul Deese at (704) 483-4355.

Denver United Methodist Church’s bible school, “The Treasure Seeker: exploring God’s promises” will be 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. from Sunday, June 11 to Thursday, June 15.
