Meet the top 10 seniors from Lincoln County Schools for 2006

Editor’s note: The following students are the top 10 seniors in each of Lincoln County’s high schools. The roster of top students from Lincoln Charter School was not available at press time.

West Lincoln High School
· Gary Eugene Arp Jr., son of Daphine Hoffman Arp, plans to attend Appalachian State University and major in business.
· Lauren Nicole Davis, daughter of Joel and Rhonda Davis, plans to attend Wingate University and major in pharmacy. Lauren received the Wingate University Trustee Scholarship.
· Whitney Kendall Goins, daughter of Timothy and Amy Goins, plans to attend the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and major in dental hygiene.
· Ariana Amanda Horvat, daughter of Andrej and Susan Horvat, plans to attend the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and major in chemistry and minor in Spanish. Ariana received the Lincoln County Farm Terracing, State Employees’ Credit Union and People Helping People scholarships.
· Amanda Faye Lenington, daughter of Sandra Hutson and Lloyd Lenington, plans to attend the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and major in chemistry. She hopes to become a cosmetic reconstructive surgeon.
· Emily Ann Nantz, daughter of Gary and Debbie Nantz, plans to attend Western Carolina University and major in biology and pursue a master’s degree in physical therapy. She received the Patrons of Quality Award (WCA), Suave Dollar General Essay Contest and National Beta Club Scholarship.
· Christian Gonzalo Quingla, son of Juan and Lucy Gonzalez, plans to attend the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and study business administration.
· Zachary David Ross, son of David and Carole Ross, plans to attend Wingate University and major in pharmacy. He received the Wingate University Trustee Scholarship.
· Audra Desiree Schrum, daughter of James Alfred Schrum and Debbie Lynn Schrum, plans to attend Western Carolina University and major in secondary education and history. She is a Teaching Fellow alternate.
· LeeAnna Tiffany Young, daughter of Jeff and Regina Young, plans to attend North Carolina State University and major in engineering. She received the North Carolina State Park Scholarship.

East Lincoln High School
· Lana Elizabeth Alexander, daughter of Keith and LouAnne Alexander, plans to attend the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and major in political science or international relations.
· Amanda Jilaine Homce, daughter of Debra Homce, plans to attend the University of Illinois and major in material science engineering. She received the Froberg Scholarship.
· Jillian Marie Jones, daughter of Jeffrey and Lisa Jones, is undecided on college plans. She hopes to become a corporate lawyer and received the Burger King Scholarship.
· Christina Sol McClain, daughter of Maria Alfaro McClain, plans to attend Notre Dame and major in English.
· Jillian Lynne Mourning, daughter of Jennifer and Kenny Phillips, plans to attend the University of North Carolina-Charlotte and major in pre-medicine. She received the National Buckeye and Trustees Scholarship.
· Melissa Pirkl, daughter of Dennis and Shirley Pirkl, plans to attend North Carolina State University and major in biomedical engineering.
· Grace Rishel, daughter of James and Ramona Rishel, plans to attend the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and major in education. Grace would eventually like to work for a newspaper or magazine and is a North Carolina Teaching Fellow and was named an East Carolina Scholar.
· Jeffrey Jermaine Sellers, son of Jeffrey and Mary Sellers, plans to attend the University of North Carolina and study law.
· Grier Mcloughin Simmons, son of Robert and Lee Simmons, plans to attend the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
· Stephenie Marie Tassitino, daughter of Deanna and Mike Tassitino, plans to attend college and major in environmental education and conservation. She received the Founder’s Scholarship at Columbia College and Chancellor’s Scholarship at North Carolina State University.

Lincolnton High School
· Emily Anne Carpenter, daughter of John and Patricia Carpenter, plans to attend the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill to pursue a career in journalism and mass communications (graphic design).
· Angela Caroline Graham, daughter of Phillip and Linda Graham, plans to attend the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill or Wake Forest University and major in business. She received the Lincoln County Historical Society and Geo. F. Hankins scholarships.
· Stephanie Elizabeth Grigg, daughter of Steven and Karen Grigg, plans to attend Western Carolina University and become an elementary school teacher.
· Ashton Elyse Howard, daughter of Thomas and Gaye Howard, plans to attend Harvard University or Princeton University and study mathematics.
· Adil Huselja, son of Sado and Emina Huselja, plans to attend the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and major in business management — international business and accounting.
· Brett Edward Jarrett, son of Fred and June Jarrett, plans to attend the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, Belk School of Business, or the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and study international business.
· David Robert Lambert, son of Hubert and Carol Lambert, plans to attend the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill or Duke University and become a research or theoretical physicist.
· Noel Mejia, son of Ismael and Sylvia Mejia, plans to attend the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and study business.
· Margaret Joan Poston, daughter of Terry and Joan Poston, plans to attend Wake Forest University or North Greenville University and pursue a career in government. She received the Trustee Scholarship from North Greenville, the Poteat Scholarship from Wake Forest and Kohl’s Corporation and church scholarships.
· Shelley Diane Stevens, daughter of Randall and Caren Stevens, plans to attend the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and become a paleontologist after graduate school.

North Lincoln High School
· Devin James Borders, son of Ron and Sandy Borders, plans to attend the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and double major in political science and international studies.
· Jennifer Leigh Boyle, daughter of Chuck and Suzanne Boyle, plans to attend the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and major in international studies to pursue a career in diplomacy.
· Rebecca Colie Duggan, daughter of Patrick and Patty Duggan, plans to attend the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and pursue a career as a lawyer.
· Jacob Alexander Frushtick, son of Jeffrey and Gwen Frushtick, plans to attend the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and pursue a career in physics.
· Lisa Michelle Haag, daughter of Charles and Sheryn Haag, plans to attend the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill to pursue a career in pharmacy.
· Chelsey Victoria Harrill, daughter of Steve and Karen Harrill, plans to attend North Carolina State University and major in social work.
· Christopher Michael Hogue, son of Terry and Diane Hogue, plans to attend North Carolina State University and major in biology.
· Michael Tom Holland, son of Andy and Cathy Holland, plans to attend the University of Kentucky to major in trumpet performance. He received a $24,000 scholarship to the University of Kentucky.
· Alexander Morgan Loftin, son of Toney and Marilyn Loftin, was accepted at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and the University of Kansas and has plans to major in business or law.
· Daniel Larry Paulk, son of Larry and Laura Paulk, plans to attend North Carolina State University or the University of North Carolina-Charlotte and major in engineering. He received the SECU Foundation Scholarship ($10,000), National Beta Club Scholarship ($1,000) and UNCC Scholarship ($28,000).
