If you’re looking for a way you can contribute to the community as well as find a way to better your living situation, you can “kill two birds with one stone†from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday at United Way Day, which will be held on the site of Freedom Homes, N.C. 16, Denver.
The home manufacturer will be hosting an “open air market†that will allow agencies to inform visitors of the services each agency provides, as well as allow the agencies to sell goods and/or collect items people may wish to contribute. In addition to that, food and beverages will be available as well as entertainment provided by a DJ.
There’s an added bonus for agencies that receive funding from United Way. Unlike other events, Freedom Homes will not be charging the agencies a fee for the privilege of setting up.
“We’re very excited about this,†said Cathy Davis of the United Way. “This is very important, being able to do this at no charge, especially when you realize those funds which normally would have gone for paying a fee can now be directed to helping people those agencies serve.â€
Activities and prizes will also be a part of the mix, in addition to information, food and entertainment.
Participants will be encouraged to visit six selected display homes. When they visit each home, they will receive a sticker from the agency posted at that model home. Once a card is filled with stickers, participants can then turn it in and become eligible for a grand prize basket that will include items for an entire family.
