Driver airlifted to CMC

Lincolnton man was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center Thursday morning after a dump truck collided with his vehicle.
The wreck happened at 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of Salem Church and Country Club roads.
James Huss, 61, was driving a dump truck belonging to the city of Lincolnton. As he turned left off Country Club Road onto Salem Church Road, he drove into the path of a 1987 Chevrolet truck driven by Dale Michael McClure, according to police reports.
Huss told police that he never saw McClure’s vehicle, reports state.
McClure, 56, of Lincolnton was pinned inside his vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters. He was taken to Lincoln Medical Center by EMS and then airlifted to CMC.
Huss was not injured.
The impact caused $4,500 worth of damage to McClure’s vehicle and $500 to the dump truck.
No charges have been filed in connection with wreck, police said.by Alice Smith
