It was a day to remember for West Lincolnâ€™s boys track team and East Lincolnâ€™s girls track team Wednesday at the Lincoln County Middle School Track Meet.
The Chiefs won the county crown for the boys, tallying 75.5 points, followed by the Falcons (69), Wildcats (47.5) and Panthers (37).
On the girlsâ€™ side, the Lady Falcons racked up 76.5 points, while the Lady Chiefs scored 60.5. The Lady Panthers finished third with 52 points and the Lady Wildcats (38).
In the 3200, Jacobs Kovac (PC) topped his county competition. Dashawn Wilson and Rashad Thompson, both from East Lincoln, tied for first in the high jump, jumping 5â€™4.â€
Noah Jenkins (WL) won the discus throw with a toss of 101â€™8.â€
Lincolntonâ€™s Brandon Wilson took first in the long jump with a leap of 13â€™11.â€ West Lincolnâ€™s Josh Adams shot putted 31â€™7â€ to win the event, while his teammate Glen Self won the triple jump, jumping 28â€™10.â€ Adams also won the hurdles, turning in a time of 16.78.
West Lincolnâ€™s 4 x 400 relay team comprised of Luis Mendez, Kevin Martinez, Josh Robinson and Cody Heavner won with a time of 4:13. Rashad Thompson won the 100-meter dash, running a 12.44. Greg Kieler ran a 5:46 to take the 1600-meter title.
The Chiefsâ€™ 4 x 200 relay team of Justin Carpenter, Kyle Arias, Charlie Anthony and Heavner ran a 1:48 to take first in the county. Lincolntonâ€™s 4 x 100 relay team turned in a time of 52.64.
East Lincolnâ€™s Greg Keiler won the 400-meters with a 59.43, while his teammate Derek Marsh won the 800-meters with a 2:26. West Lincolnâ€™s Kelvin Martinez ran a 27.62 to win the 200-meter run.
For the girls, East Lincolnâ€™s Jill Baxter won the 3200-meters with a time of 14.20. West Lincolnâ€™s Jordan Bingham triple jumped a 24â€™6,â€ while Lincolntonâ€™s Mercedes Moten high jumped a 4â€™2â€ to best her county competition.
West Lincolnâ€™s Savannah Costner shot putted 23â€™11â€ to take first, while East Lincolnâ€™s Jazmine England threw the discus 78â€™5â€ to win. Englandâ€™s teammate Stephanie Monroe long jumped 11â€™0â€ for first.
Moten also won the hurdles with a time of 9.59 for the Lady Falcons. East Lincolnâ€™s Kiandra Long turned in a time of 12.81 to take first in the 100-meters, while her teammate Kiara Bailey ran a 28.59 in the 200-meters.
Pumpkin Centerâ€™s Carson Cook ran a 6:30 in the 1600-meter run for first, while her teammate Katelyn Milholland ran a 3:02 in the 800-meters to win the event. Destiny Queen, also from Pumpkin Center won the 400-meter run with a 1:11.
Both the 4 x 100 from East and the 4 x 200 relay teams took first, turning in a 55.70 and a 2:00 respectively.
