The Balls Creek Bassmasters held their annual Champions Banquet last Saturday to honor its 2005 annual and monthly tournament winners.
The 30 member club holds 12 tournaments a year awarding points at each tournament. At year end the angler with the most points is crowned Club Champion. Point winner.
2005 champion was Bron Hemphill from Conover. In second place was Bob Patrick also from Conover. Third place was Trey Brown from Winston Salem.
Winners of the monthly tournaments were: Hemphill with three wins; Bob Patrick also three wins; Doug Spencer from Maiden with 2 wins.
Winning one each were the following club members; Trey Brown, Bradley Woodie from Morganton, James Adkins from Newton and Charles Hefner from Newton.
The big fish of the year award went to Lenny Francoeur of Huntersville with a nearly six-pound largemouth.
The club service and sportsmanship award went to James Adkins from Newton.
The Balls Creek club runs the American Cancer Society Jim Ledbetter Memorial Bass tournament which is March 11 at Queenâ€™s Landing on Lake Norman.
They also run the popular Friday Night Fishinâ€™ Friends tournament series out of Midway Marina on Lake Norman. That series will start April 14.
