Video project seeks supporters

Members of the Lincoln County Jesus Video Project hope to have $90,000 raised by Feb. 20.
The group hopes to mail DVDs on the life of Christ to the nearly 70,000 residents of Lincoln County.
“We’re hoping people receive the DVD and watch it and receive Christ,” said Guy Ballard, a member of the committee. “That’s the main purpose of a Christian — to see people come to Christ.”
The project is being spearheaded by Macedonia Baptist Church, but 40 other Lincoln County churches have also come on board.
“This is really a non-denominational thing,” said Ballard. “It’s not a Baptist thing. We’re trying to get all the churches in Lincoln County involved.”
After over a year of fund-raising, the project now has $70,000. That means another $20,000 has to be raised by Feb. 20 in order to mail the DVDs by Easter.
The group has raised money through individual and church donations as well as selling barbecue, cokes and face painting.
A prayer breakfast will be held this Saturday morning at Macedonia Baptist Church at 9 a.m.
The event is free, and organizers hope it will encourage more people and churches to become involved in the project.
“Raising the money is probably going to be the easy part,” said Ballard. “You have to follow up, which is going to take a tremendous amount of churches.”
Group members plan to have people visit every single house in Lincoln County.
“We just like to see how many people have watched it and how many have accepted Christ,” said Ballard.
It’s not a small task, but those involved feel it will be worth the work.
“You’ve got to try. You’ve got to do what you can,” said Shirley Ballard, a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. “We can’t just worry about ourselves. We have to worry about other people.”
