For the second consecutive year, Coach Tom Riley, head football coach at the North Carolina School for the Deaf, Morganton, has been selected as the Mason-Dixon Conference Football Coach of the Year for the 2005 season.
The NCSD Bears finished 7-2 for the season. The 7-2 record was the best record for the Bears since 1980.
The school was recently informed that the 2005 Bears were ranked fourth in the state among 8-man teams. Riley was also named Coach of the Year for the 2004 season.
Coach Riley, his assistant coaches, players and cheerleaders were honored with a celebration parade around campus following the last game and students, staff, family, alumni, and friends attended.
