Knights take first

The North Lincoln Lady Knights swim team gave themselves a nice Christmas present last Wednesday.
Under the direction of head coach Libby Fletcher the Lady Knights beat Hibriten and Bandys in a three-team meet.
Nicole Baxter and Sara Edwards finished first and second in both the 50-yard and 100-freestyle events.
Kelsey Lee recorded first-place finishes in both the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard backstroke.
Other top finishers were: Rachel Blackwelder, Sarah Boggs, Jenny Boyle, Ellen Bunzey, Becky Duggan, Nickele Gates and Emily Torbert.
North Lincoln’s young women also finished first in all relay events.
The Knights took Hibriten to the wire, but didn’t quite have enough in the tank to beat the Panthers.
Matt Roseman and Collin Murdock took first and second in the 50-yard freestyle. Phillip Boyle and Murdock then finished first and second in the 100-yard freestyle.
Mark Lambert won the 100-yard backstroke event.
Other top finishers for the Knights were: Sean Bertran, Colby Jackson, Aaron Ng, Evan Ng and Kyle Wilkinson.
North Lincoln will next be in action Jan. 5 at Lenoir-Rhyne College.

Wilson facing big-time competition
Former Lincolnton star and current Western Carolina starter Eric Wilson’s next two games will come against two division one schools.
This Saturday, Wilson and his teammates will take on the University of Georgia in Athens.
The Catamounts last non-conference tune up will be Ole’ Miss next Tuesday.
Western is currently 7-7 with a 1-0 record in the Southern Conference.
The confines of the Liston B. Ramsey Activity Center has been particularly good to the Catamounts as they have a 5-2 home record. Away from home, they’re just 1-3.
