Lincolnton (4-3, 2-1) answered as quarterback Adam Thompson hit 6â€™4â€ sophomore wideout Dominique Pugh for a 20-yard scoring strike in the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Thompson connected with Pugh for 50-yards on a streak route, for their second connection of the night.
Jed Downs scored the two-point conversion.
Thompson hit Pugh on a 20-yard fade route for the third time on the night in the third quarter. Phillip Gregory nailed the extra point for a 21-6 lead.
West Lincolnâ€™s (3-5, 2-2) Jordan Leonhardt scored on a 30-yard pass from quarterback Jake Watts with a minute remaining.
Lincolnton head coach Fred Dalrymple believes Pugh has a bright future.
â€œHeâ€™s just learning the game, but heâ€™s got a lot of potential.â€
Jonathan Hinson, Chris Melton and Hayden Smith were cited for solid defense by Dalrymple.
â€œThe kids played well and weâ€™re developing a passing game and thatâ€™s going to help us,â€ Dalrymple said.
South Iredell beat East Lincoln 3-1; 25-14, 25-18, 26-24, 25-16 to win the Southern Piedmont 2A Conference Championship Thursday.
The Lady Mustangs finish in second-place with a 16-9, 12-2 record in the SP 1A/2A.
East Lincoln standouts were: Lauren Sharpe with 18 kills, five digs and one roof, Kassi Henry with 15 kills and 8 digs and Krista Abernathy with 37 assists and three digs.
East Lincolnâ€™s JV team lost 2-0 (11-25;12-25) to finish the season 4-15, 3-9 in the SP 1A/2A.
Standouts in the loss were: Neely Reid with three kills and three assists, Kendra Day with two kills and five assists and Lauren Strenke with two kills.
East Lincoln swept Highland Tech Monday.
The JV Mustangs won 2-0; 26-24, 25-11, while the varsity honored seniors Kassi Henry, Mandy Homce, and Casey Cline with a Senior Night victory.
The Mustangs won 3-0; 25-3, 25-10, 25-5.
They were led by Henry with five kills.
Dana Griffin, Brittany Lackey, and Lauren Sharpe served up 10, seven and four aces respectively.
The Lincolnton Lady Wolves swept North Lincoln Thursday in volleyball.
In varsity play, the Wolves won 3-1; 19-25, 25-23, 26-24, 25-11.
Kendal Bradley paced her team with 21 points, 11 assists and two aces in the win.
Hannah Parker had 18 points, four blocks, four kills and three aces. Charlotte Clark, who had six kills and Jessie Cline, who had 11 assists, each had 15 points.
In JV action, Lincolnton (9-6, 7-4) won 2-1; 16-25, 25-11, 25-14. Hannah Houk paced the Lady Wolves with 16 points, two aces and one kill.
Brittney Morrow finished with 15 points, four aces and three kills and both Rachel Lanier and Janna Seagle had 14 points.
Lincolnton swept Tuesdayâ€™s volleyball match versus Cherryville.
In varsity play, the Lady Wolves (10-7, 7-6) won 3-0; 25-10, 25-2, 25-14. Kendal Bradley led the way with 30 points, eight aces and seven assists.
Hannah Parker contributed 17 points, four aces, seven kills and one block, while Charlotte Clark had 14 points, eight kills, two aces and one assist.
Jessie Cline chipped in 14 assists in the victory.
In JV action, the Lady Wolves (8-6, 6-4) won 2-0; 25-10, 25-21. Brittney Morrow paced the Lady Wolves with 15 points, three kills and two aces.
Hannah Houk and Rachel Lanier both had eight points apiece.
