Katrina Fishing Shootouts start
The Fishin’ Friends group opened a series of Friday Night “Katrina Shootouts†at the Midway Marina on Lake Norman last Friday.
Each tournament will be a stand alone event. No points system. No Fishoff. Just the same payoff as a regular season event. $40 per boat to enter includes big fish pot.
Anglers must have a 2005 membership in the Fishin’ Friends group.
The membership for new members is a one time $5 fee. Weigh Master Anthony Williams, Bob Patrick, and the Balls Creek Bassmasters crew will be there to insure professionally run events.
There will not be the normal $5 per boat set aside for a fish off but, $5 per boat will be set aside to donate to hurricane disaster relief.
The Ballscreek Bassmasters Club will also donate its’ share of the entry fee. It will be donated in a way that matching funds are added to the amount.
For sponsor donations to the effort or further information call Bob at 828-459-1119 or on his cell phone 828-234-6643.
The PC Homes “Sportstalk†show on Saturday mornings with David Keever and Mike Powell is shifting its time slot. The show, broadcast on 1050 WLON and 1590 WCSL, will move from its original 8:30 time to 9:30AM.
The 90-minute weekly show will focus primarily on high school football in the upcoming weeks. “Sportstalk†is a live call-in show and welcomes phone calls from area coaches and fans. The studio line is 704-735-8071.
If things go as planned, the show could be broadcast live throughout the football season from various local restaurants.
