Lady Wolves roll over Rams
Lincolnton beat Highland Tech in both JV and varsity volleyball Tuesday.
The varsity won 3-1;25-10, 22-25, 25-5, 25-10.
Charlotte Clark led the way with 23 points scored. Kim Zuniga had 22 points, five kills and two aces.
Hannah Parker had 18 points, five kills and one ace. Jessie Cline had 14 points, two aces and one kill.
Kendal Bradley chipped in 12 points, Keelie Steward had seven and Brittany Nicholson had one point.
Collectively, they up their record to 3-3, 1-2 in the Southern Piedmont 1A/2A.
In JV action, Lincolnton won 2-0; 25-7, 25-21. Rachel Lanier paced the Lady Wolves with 19 points and four aces.
Elaine Gregory and Hannah Houk both had 10 points with one and two aces respectively. Octavia Odum had six points, one ace and one kill.
Morgan Wolf contributed three points, while Brittney Morrow had two.
The JV Wolves up their record to 3-2, 2-1 SP 1A/2A.
North Lincoln volleyball
North Lincoln split with South Iredell in volleyball Tuesday night.
The varsity fell to South 3-0;19-25, 20-25, 16-25. Kathryn Thorne led the way with five kills, two digs and one block.
Kayleigh Brown and McKenzie Harkey had four digs apiece. Harkey also had one kill and one ace.
Janna Borbeau had three assists, three digs and one ace.
In JV action, North won 2-0;25-16, 25-18. Taylor Ewing paced the Lady Knights with six kills and five aces.
Annalise Farris had three assists, three digs and two aces, while Kelsey Lee had four aces.
East Lincoln volleyball
East Lincoln swept through Cherryville in both JV and varsity volleyball Tuesday.
The Lady Mustangs won 3-0;25-16, 25-15, 25-11. Lauren Sharpe led the way with eight aces, 10 kills and one roof.
Krista Abernathy had three aces and 17 assists.
East improves to 5-2, 3-0 Southern Piedmont 1A/2A.
In JV action, East won 2-1;25-19, 17-25, 25-21. Kendra Day paced the Mustangs with two aces and three kills.
Amber and Megan Bowles each had three aces and three and two kills respectively.
The Mustangs improve to 2-5, 1-2 SP 1A/2A.
Lincolnton beat Newton-Conover in a home tennis match 8-1 Tuesday.
Shelly Stevens, Angela Graham, Betty Royster, Sheldon McCurry and Lauren Fortkort recorded wins in singles.
Stevens/Graham, Kiser/Royster and McCurry/Fortkort won in doubles.
In exhibition play Natalie Wiseman won 8-6.
The Lady Wolves improve their season record to 3-2.
Royster remains undefeated at 5-0 and Kiser/Royster are still unblemished at 5-0 in doubles.
Lincolnton cancelled their scheduled match at South Point today due to fuel conservation.
East Lincoln tennis
The East Lincoln Lady Mustangs beat Bandys 9-0 Tuesday.
Candace Hall, Madeline Jones, Janna Mills, Laura Estridge, Kristin Parker and Mandy Werth each recorded wins in singles.
Hall/Mills, Caitlin Kreshon/Jones and Maria Robledo/Estridge notched doubles victories.
The Lady Mustangs improve to 3-0 on the season.
â€œToday, we mixed up the doubles line-up and we had very good results from top to bottom,â€ head coach Mike Davis said.
â€œCaitlin and Madeline played outstanding in their first start together at second doubles and our senior girls continue to roll,â€ he added.
East Lincoln has Mooresville and North Lincoln on the horizon in the coming week.
North Lincoln tennis
The North Lincoln Knightsâ€™ lady tennis team beat St. Stephens 5-4 last Thursday.
Nataleigh Hitt, May Eisner and Courtney Feldon earned singles victories.
Hannah Mozeley/Feldon and Hitt/Eisner clinched the match with two doubles victories.
Head coach Julie Mills was pleased with Mozeley and Feldon coming through in the clutch.
â€œIt came down to them and they answered with a win,â€ she said.
â€œAs a team, we have been working hard and focusing solely on doubles. The girlsâ€™ hard work and skills paid off when we needed it most.â€
Becky Duggan/Taylor Holden recorded an 8-2 win in exhibition doubles and Samantha Woods won 8-2 in singles.
Lincolnton beat East Gaston 2-1 last week, while East Lincoln fell to Newton-Conover 3-0.
