Tammy Teague hopes she can share the Lord with everyone she meets.
As the new director for the East Lincoln Pregnancy Counseling Center in Denver, she hopes to reach out to the churches and schools to promote abstinence.
“We want to get involved before there is a crisis,†Teague said.
Teague replaces Trish Crews who served as Director from December 2003 until July of this year. Crews left her position to be a stay-at-home mom. She will still volunteer at the center.
Teague is a member at Denver Wesleyan Church, where she is the youth Sunday School teacher and pianist.
Initially, Teague had heard of a treasurer position that she wanted to look into at the center. But later on, her pastor, Johnny Houser, informed her that the center was looking for a new director.
“I think she has a passion for working with young ladies and with crisis pregnancy,†Houser said. “She is an intelligent lady and has a good ability to talk with young people in general.â€
Teague, who recently finished a bachelor’s degree, had been working at Bank of America.
“She had some management skills as well and that is a plus for running the center itself,†Houser said.
Teague was elected by the board of directors.
Crews could not be reached for comment by press time Tuesday.
Teague said many of the well-known programs that the community is aware of will continue. Some of those services include offering post-abortion counseling to women, as well as visiting East Lincoln and North Lincoln High Schools to offer abstinence counseling.
