North loses first match

The North Lincoln Lady Knights dropped their first volleyball match to Kings Mountain Tuesday.
The Knights fell 3-0; 25-11, 25-9 and 25-7 in varsity action.
Despite the loss, North still had standouts: Chasity Morgan had eight kills, 14 blocks, two aces and one dig. Kathryn Thorne had eight kills, eight blocks, one dig and one assist.
April Wilson had seven blocks, three digs, two kills and one ace. Jenny Boyle had seven assists, two digs and one ace.
Kayleigh Brown chipped in seven digs.
The JV Knights were defeated 2-0; 25-15 and 25-10.
Ashley Thackeray led with five kills and four blocks. Ashley Lenentine had three kills, two digs and one assist. Annalise Farris had seven digs and three assists.

JV Football
The East Lincoln Mustangs fell 22-0 to Bandys Thursday night in their opening game of the season.
North Lincoln beat Bunker Hill 20-0. Ty Gray had one a quarterback sneak for a touchdown. Josh Mull scored from three yards out and Justin Griggs caught a 24-yard touchdown pass from Gray.
On the defensive side of the ball, Pat Sykes had two interceptions. Josh Neratka paced the Knights in tackles with eight.
Chad Arndt and Jonathan O’Quinn also were cited by coach Matt Beam. “I was thoroughly pleased with our effort. It was the hardest-hitting JV game I’ve seen in a long time,” he said. by John Mark Brooks
