Sportstalk show
The PC Homes “Sportstalk” show on Saturday mornings with David Keever and Mike Powell is shifting its time slot. The show, broadcast on 1050 WLON and 1590 WCSL, will move from its original 8:30 time to 9:30AM.
The 90-minute weekly show will focus primarily on high school football in the upcoming weeks. “Sportstalk” is a live call-in show and welcomes phone calls from area coaches and fans. The studio line is 704-735-8071.
If things go as planned, the show could be broadcast live throughout the football season from various local restaurants.

Wolves’ soccer
Lincolnton will hold soccer practice on Tuesday from 8-9:30 a.m.
Wednesday through Friday, practice will be held from 3:30-5 p.m. at Lincolnton High School.
The new Wolves’ head coach is Andy Grant. Any prospective player that is interested is encouraged to come out.

NL Football Sign-ups
The North Lincoln Optimist Club is currently holding football sign-ups for kids ages 7-13 years old.
Registration will be held Monday-Friday from 6-8 p.m. at North Lincoln’s Football Stadium.

Chiefs’ football
West Lincoln Middle School will start football practice on Monday at 6 p.m.
A completed-physical is needed.

Flag football
Lincolnton-Lincoln County Parks and Recreation is seeking teams interested in participating in a Fall Flag Football League.
Team registration has already started and there will be a meeting for team captains on Monday, September 12th at 6 p.m. at the Lentz Recreation Center.

Fall Soccer
Lincolnton/Lincoln County Parks and Recreation is extending registration for Fall Youth Soccer.
The league is open to boys and girls 4-13. Registration is $25 and games will begin in September. Registration will be taken Tuesday night at the East Lincoln Community Center from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday at the Lentz Recreation Center 9 a.m.-noon.
Registration will be taken Monday through Friday 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. at both locations.
The deadline is August 27.

Basketball tourney
The recreation department will hold a 5-on-5 double elimination tournament with the cost being $100 per team.
Games will be played on August 23, 25, 30 and September 1. Players must register before 5 p.m. on August 19.
The registration fee and roster are due at the time of registration.

Rebels’ football
Fans are encouraged to park in the student parking lot next to Hwy. 27.
There will be no entrance on the other side of the school.
The cost of admittance is $5.

EL Middle softball
Practice for girls’ softball will begin next Wednesday at 3 p.m. and will last until 5.
Prospective players will need a current physical, copy of last report card and softball equipment.

East Lincoln Middle School football practice gets underway Thursday from 3-5 p.m.

Adrian L. Shuford YMCA Leagues
The Adrian L. Shuford Jr. YMCA is accepting registration for its Fall youth soccer leagues. Boys and girls ages 3-13 are eligible.
The cost is $45 for members and $65 for non-members. Registration ends on August 26th. After that deadline, the cost will be a $5 fee added for late signees.
The YMCA is also accepting registration for Fall Church Co-Ed Volleyball.
Registration will last until August 31st.
If anyone is interested in playing in the Fall Adult Flag Football League, registration begins today and will run through August 31st. For more information on any of the above leagues, please contact Carlos Arias at 828-962-5554.

Branch gone for season
Carolina Panthers safety Colin Branch will be lost for the season, as he suffered a torn ACL and MCL in Saturday night’s preseason contest versus the New York Giants.
