“Teens Bike for Life” Charity Ride
20 teenage cyclists, all representatives of the Carolina Pathfinder clubs, will ride through downtown Lincolnton between 3-3:30 p.m. as they continue their 420 mile trek through central North Carolina.
The club raises public awareness and funds for different community services each year.
This year’s recipient is the local chapter of ADRA (Adventist Disaster Relief Agency), which has aided hurricane, flood and disaster-relief efforts in throughout the Carolinas.
The teenagers will give a ‘Riding for a Purpose’ program at 7:30 p.m. at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church located on Hwy. 27 W.

EL Fall Softball
The East Lincoln Optimist will hold sign-ups for a new Ladies Fall Softball League August 2nd and 4th from 6-8 p.m. and on August 6th from 9-noon.
All ladies 16 or older are eligible to participate. The cost is $60. Sign-ups will be at the clubhouse. For more information contact Dee Carver at 704-609-1861.

WL Optimist
Sign-ups are currently underway for football (2nd-7th grade), fall baseball/softball (K-12) and soccer (Ages 4-14).
Sign-up days are Thursday, August 4th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and Saturday, August 6th from 9-noon.

Lincolnton soccer
Lincolnton soccer tryouts will be conducted by coach Andy Grant on Monday, August 8th from 6-7:30 p.m.

NL Golf tryouts
Tryouts for the North Lincoln High School girls golf team will be held Aug. 9 at Lincoln Country Club.
Prospects should meet at the driving range at 10 a.m. For more information, contact North Lincoln coach Nicole Sain at 704-472-6951.

NL Tennis
North Lincoln will conduct tennis tryouts August 8-10 on the school’s tennis courts.

Rebels’ cross country
West Lincoln boys and girls’ cross country practice will begin Tuesday, August 9th at 8:30 a.m.

EL fall baseball, softball sign-ups
The East Lincoln Optimist will hold sign-ups for fall baseball and softball on the following dates: Saturday and Aug. 6 from 9 a.m. to noon, and on Tuesday and Aug. 4 from 6-8pm.
Boys ages 7-18 and girls ages 7-15 are eligible to participate. The cost is $65 for ages 9-12 and $75 for ages 13-18. Sign-ups will be at the clubhouse on Optimist club Road.

Wolves cross country
Cross country practice at Lincolnton High School opens Aug. 8 at 7:30 p.m., coach Jeff Cloninger announced.

Lakeshore soccer registration begins
A second sign-up period will be Aug. 4 from 6-7:30 p.m..
Registration fees for non-members are $80 per applicant (includes soccer uniform and one barbecue dinner). For additional siblings, the fee is $75.
The program is for boys and girls in grades K-6. The season opens Sept. 10 and runs through Oct. 29.

EL Cross Country and wrestling
Practice for East Lincoln High School cross country opens Aug. 8 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Evening workouts are from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Students interested in wrestling can stop by the school’s mini-gym Monday-Friday from noon-2 p.m.

Wolves’ volleyball
Volleyball practice at Lincolnton High School opens Aug. 8 and will run from 6-9 p.m.
Physical exam forms are available at the school’s main office.

Pumpkin Center football tryouts
Pumpkin Center Middle School will hold tryouts August 10th from 9-11 a.m.

Softball tournament
There will be a softball tournament August 20th at City Park.
The format is an open, double elimination tournament with a five homer limit.
Awards will be given to 1st-4th place teams. If interested please contact Steve Littlejohn at 704-748-2209.
There is an entry fee of $125 per team. The deadline for registration is August 15th.
