Hopkins was surprised when told of his being named.
“The Lord always helps me with stuff like this. I worked as hard as I could during the season and went out and played the best I could,” he said.
His head coach Sean Andrews was proud of his stud sophomore.
“It’s well-deserved and I’m proud of the kid. He gives me everything he has everyday,” Andrews said. “He’s one of the most coachable kids that I have. Day in and day out, he is extremely focused in practice.”
Cheron Farley, who graduated in 1995, is believed to be the last Lincoln County athlete to be make All-State in two sports. He achieved it playing baseball and football.
“I didn’t think I would make both of them. I was shocked,” Hopkins said.
