Mustangs beat Wildcats
The East Lincoln Lady Mustangs won 7-6 over Big South 3A opponent North Gaston Tuesday.
The Mustangs were up 4-0, but an eight-error fourth inning led to the Wildcats scoring five runs.
East Lincoln drew even in the fifth inning, stringing together four-consecutive hits. North Gaston scored on a passed ball putting them up 6-5.
The Lady Mustangs leadoff batter Sam Betts returned the favor, scoring on a passed ball, to send the game into extra innings.
Betts then hit a game-winning ground-rule double scoring Sonny Marthers to win the game. Marthers reached second on a sacrifice by Amber Parker.
Pitcher Alexis Rogers picked up her fourth BS 3A Conference victory on the mound.
Senior Night will be next Tuesday versus East Gaston at home.
A week ago, the Lady Mustangs beat Forestview 8-4. Rogers gave up two earned runs in earning the win. She allowed six hits.

East Lincoln golf
The East Lincoln Mustangs finished fourth in their final Big South 3A Conference golf match on Monday.
Scott Brady shot a 75 to pace the Mustangs. Calleway Turner and Brian Guggenbiller each shot an 82.
Brady was named BS 3A Conference Player of the Year for his stellar play. He will participate in the regional golf tournament at River Bend Country Club in Shelby.

Lincolnton tennis
Lincolnton fell to East Rutherford 9-0 Wednesday.
Adil Huseja lost 6-1, 6-4 to Darris Thompson. Michael Sharpe was also competitive at No. 4.
“We gave a good effort today, but still came up short in each match,” Wolves’ head coach Chris Hoffman said.
The loss drops them to 0-10, 0-5 in the Midwest 2A Conference.

North Lincoln Tennis
Daniel Paulk and George Lampron qualifed for the 1A West Regional beating Juan Fernandez and Jessie Bachmeier 6-0, 6-0 Tuesday.
North Lincoln’s Zane Heafner won his first match over Ying Vang 6-3, 6-0, but fell in the second round to Polk County’s Andrew Utz.
The doubles’ team of Taylor Brown and David Mosely beat Cherryville’s Joe Galloway and Ethan Mercantel 6-1, 6-1.
Brown/Mosely, however, fell in the second round to Hendersonville’s Brad Barber and Billy See.
The 1A West Regional will be held May 13th at East Montgomery High School.

East Lincoln tennis
The East Lincoln Mustangs beat East Gaston 7-2 on Wednesday.
Drew Keener, Pete Pitsikoulis, Kendall Law, Houston Stokes and Grier Simmons recorded singles’ wins.
In doubles, Keener/Stokes and Pitsikoulis/Simmons earned victories.
“The team came out focused and ready to play today,” Mustangs’ head coach Mike Davis said.
