The East Lincoln Mustangs beat North Gaston 9-3 Tuesday behind the strength of Seth Alexander’s right arm.

“Seth was just dominating. He was just sharp. Everything was working for him,” Mustangs’ head coach Matt Neville said. “It’s the best he’s thrown all season and probably one of the top two pitching performances we’ve had all year long.”
Jesse Cadenhead led the Mustangs going 1-for-2 with two walks and three RBIs. Greyson Schram was 2-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and an RBI.
T.J. Chapman and Trent Hovis both had two RBIs. Hovis was also was hit by a pitch twice.
Starter Nick Harmon threw three innings, had two strikeouts and allowed three earned runs.
The Mustangs are now 12-8 overall and 6-4 in the Big South 3A.
“This was a huge win. We played a very good team and we needed this win to keep our playoff hopes alive. It was a good team victory and something to build on in the last four games this season,” Neville said.
