The East Lincoln Mustangs beat North Gaston 9-3 Tuesday behind the strength of Seth Alexanderâ€™s right arm.
Seth Alexander (4-1) worked four innings, gave up no hits and had five strikeouts. He also allowed no walks.
â€œSeth was just dominating. He was just sharp. Everything was working for him,â€ Mustangsâ€™ head coach Matt Neville said. â€œItâ€™s the best heâ€™s thrown all season and probably one of the top two pitching performances weâ€™ve had all year long.â€
Jesse Cadenhead led the Mustangs going 1-for-2 with two walks and three RBIs. Greyson Schram was 2-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and an RBI.
T.J. Chapman and Trent Hovis both had two RBIs. Hovis was also was hit by a pitch twice.
Starter Nick Harmon threw three innings, had two strikeouts and allowed three earned runs.
The Mustangs are now 12-8 overall and 6-4 in the Big South 3A.
â€œThis was a huge win. We played a very good team and we needed this win to keep our playoff hopes alive. It was a good team victory and something to build on in the last four games this season,â€ Neville said.
