Mustangs rebound from loss
The Mustangs rebounded from a 9-0 loss at the hands of Forestview with a 9-0 win over North Gaston Tuesday.
Alex Willhite, Drew Keener, Pete Pitsikoulis, Kendall Law, Houston Stokes and Adam Pressley earned singles’ wins.
In doubles, Willhite/Law, Keener/Grier Simmons and Pitsikoulis/Pressley earned wins.
Pitsikoulis did not lose a game in either single or doubles’ play.
“Pete was outstanding today. Adam ran into a few problems and lost the second set, but composed himself and cruised in the third set. We have three matches left and if we win all three, we’ll qualify for state,” Mustangs’ head coach Mike Davis said.

Lincolnton softball
The Bandys Lady Trojans beat Lincolnton 6-3 Friday in softball.
Santana Edwards pitched a complete game, surrendering seven hits and two earned runs. She walked no one.
Edwards, Ashley Tipton, Hannah Parker and Lisa McCorkle each singled. Parker had a RBI.

North Lincoln tennis
Maiden defeated North Lincoln in a Southern Foothills’ tennis match 5-4 on Tuesday.
Blue Devils’ No. 1 seed Soloman Xiong beat George Lampron 6-2, 6-2. Knights’ No. 2 seed Daniel Paulk defeated Matt Lowman 7-5, 6-0. Blue Devils’ No. 3 seed Jeese Armstrong beat Zane Heafner 7-6, 6-2.
At No. 4, North’s Joe Fletcher beat Ying Vang 6-2, 6-2. Knights’ No. 5 Taylor Brown defeated Trevor Vance 6-1, 6-0. Maiden’s Chee Xiong beat David Mosely 6-4, 6-0.
In doubles’ play, Paulk/Lampron defeated Xiong/Lowman 8-5. Maiden’s Armstrong/Vance beat Heafner/Fletcher 8-2. With the match hanging in the balance, Vang/Jimenez beat Brown/Mosely in a hard-fought 8-5 match.
The Knights fall to 6-7 with the loss with a 3-2 Southern Foothills’ record. They will host the SF 1A individuals’ tournament Tuesday, April 26th. Play will begin at 3 p.m. The final four teams in both singles and doubles will advance to the 1A State Tournament.
In their last match, the Knights beat Highland Tech 8-1. Earning singles’ wins were Lampron, Paulk, Heafner, Brown and Mosely.
Paulk/Lampron, Heafner/Fletcher and Brown Mosely earned victories in doubles.

East Lincoln baseball
The East Lincoln Mustangs dropped their second-straight Big South 3A game falling to Forestview 7-6 Tuesday.
Mitchell Lynch only pitched two thirds of an inning before getting removed in favor of Nick Harmon.
Harmon pitched four and a third with two strikeouts. Greyson Schram pitched one inning and suffered the loss.
At the plate, the Mustangs were led by Schram who went 3-for-4 with 2 singles, a triple and a stolen base. Jake Black (2-for-4) and T.J. Chapman both homered for the away team. It was Chapman’s third homerun of the season. Lynch went 2-for-2.
The Mustangs fall to 10-8 with the loss and 5-4 in the BS 3A. Thursday, weather permitting, they will host North Lincoln.
