The fourth annual Citizen of the Year banquet will be held April 14 to honor an individual who has improved the quality of life in east Lincoln.
Last year, Patsy Black was honored for her work with Relay for Life.
This year additional honorees have been included to honor a school or church volunteer of the year and a community organization of the year.
The speaker for the evening will be Rod Smith, a former cornerback and safety for the Carolina Panthers. Smith was an All-American at Notre Dame and was drafted in the second round by the New England Patriots. He played four seasons with Carolina and one with Green Bay, until he suffered a knee injury. Now he is a financial advisor. Smith will speak about the principles of life management and leadership.
The banquet will be held at Verdict Ridge Country Club at 6:30 p.m. A dinner buffet will be at 7 p.m.
Tickets are available at the UPS store in Denver, or by contacting any Rotary, Denver Area Business Association or East Lincoln Betterment Association officer.
The cost is $20 per person.
The event is being sponsored by the Denver Lake Norman Rotary Club. by Staff Reports
