The Florence Soule Shanklin Memorial library will hold their annual meeting on April 11 at 7 p.m. The speaker will be Edward Smith who will discuss the early history of eastern Lincoln County.

The Lincoln County Democratic Women will meet on April 26 at the parish hall at St. Peter by the lake at 7 p.m.

The Westport Garden Club will meet at 10 a.m. on April 6 at the home of Dottie Ayers, 7797 Nine Iron Court. Co-hostesses will be Jean Middleton, Norma Mitchell, and Cathy Touchstone. The Western North Carolina Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society gives one the opportunity to win a 2004 H2 Hummer or a 2005 Gekko Ski Boat every weekend starting March 11 to April 3 at Angry Ale’s at Lake Norman. The proceeds will be donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of North Carolina. Flotillas 17-6 and 17-8 of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary will offer a one day, “Boating Safely Course,” on Saturday, April 9. The class will be held at Rocky Mount United Methodist Church on Perth Road. Sign-in is at 8 a.m. and the class will end at 4:30 p.m. with the completion of a final exam. A Mystery quilt class will be held March 25 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. A beginning paper-pieced class will be held on March 31 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. A keepsake rail fence quilting class will be held on April 2 and 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Quilter’s Haven in Denver. Lake Norman Probus meets every 3rd Tuesday of each month to hear speakers on topics of general interest or specific senior issues. For more information, call Don Sell at 704-483-4338. Adult Art Classes will begin Wednesday, Feb. 16 at the East Lincoln Community Center. Cost will be $5 per class or you may pay monthly. A small list of supplies is needed for the class and will be provided at the first meeting. Westport Baptist Church Women’s Ministry, open to all women, will begin meeting starting April 7 at 6:30 p.m. at Westport Baptist Church, 2372 Lakeshore Road South. The group will meet downstairs next to the church offices every Thursday evening. Free baby-sitting is provided. The 10 week, 10 step program will be followed by a support group. Lake Norman Flotilla 17-8 of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary holds its monthly meeting on the first Saturday of each month (no meeting in July or December). The meeting is held at Rocky Mount United Methodist Church, located on Perth Road, North of Highway 150.

This dance exercise class offers a blend of jazz dance and exercise science set to a variety of music — top 40, jazz, country and classics.
