Knights throw second no-no
The North Lincoln Knights continued their dominance of the Southern Foothills Friday with a convincing 12-0 victory over Highland Tech.
Junior pitcher Nicole Baxter, who pitched a no-hitter earlier in the week, pitched four more no-hit innings. She also struck out nine batters.
Nicole Hall pitched the fifth inning and preserved the Knights’ no-hitter.
April Wilson went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Hall also was 2-for-3 with one RBI. Lindsey Smith and Jenna Torbert chipped in with RBI doubles. McKenzie Harkey tripled, while Courtney Feldon and Taylor Ewing each had one RBI.
Smith, the senior shortstop turned in two sensational defensive plays. One came on a high throw on an attempted steal, where Smith jumped and came down in time to get the base runner. She also gobbled up a ground ball, hit behind the second base bag, before throwing to first for another out.
The Knights’ record is now 5-0, 2-0 SF 1A on the season. They will host Bessemer City on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

East Lincoln
Forestview blanked East Lincoln 10-0 on Friday.
Lady Mustangs pitcher Alexis Rogers allowed seven hits in five innings of play.
The Friday before last the Lady Mustangs beat Lincolnton 12-3.
Freshman Sonny Marthers allowed only three hits earning the win.
Another freshman, catcher Tricia Sherer went 4-for-5 and scored four runs. Marthers had four steals, a double, triple, sacrifice and had three RBIs and two runs scored.
Sophomore Sam Betts hit a two-run homer in the third inning. Junior Shenna Stansil also hit a homerun in the same inning.
East Lincoln is now 1-4 on the season.

East Lincoln soccer
The Lady Mustangs beat Forestview 3-0 on Friday.
East Lincoln head coach Jason Dragoon was especially excited due to the fact they haven’t beaten the Jaguars in four years.
“After four years of frustration we finally got the monkey off our back,” he said.
Jessica Glenn gave the Lady Mustangs momentum just before the half, putting one between the goalie’s legs for East Lincoln’s first score.
Jennifer Redman scored off a rebound on an Ali Fisher shot attempt. Julia Barker scored the final goal, knocking one in off the cross bar.
“This was an emotional win, putting us in position to be play for first place in the conference midway through the season, when we host conference power South Point,” Dragoon said.
On Monday, Mykel Gates tied the Lady Mustangs’ game against Ashbrook 1-1 just before the half.
Goal keeper Erin Smith’s continued the momentum, ranging to her right stretching out for a sensational save.
With less than 10 seconds to go, the Green Wave slipped a player to the far post, who knocked in the game winner.

East Lincoln baseball
The East Lincoln Mustangs beat Forestview 10-4 on Friday.
Greyson Schram threw a complete game, while striking out nine. He also demonstrated excellent control, allowing only two walk.
Freshman leadoff hitter Jesse Guice and Jesse Cadenhead led the Mustangs with three RBIs apiece. Guice also had a walk and stolen base.
Schram helped his own cause going 2-for-4 at the plate with two doubles. Todd Link stole three bases for the Mustangs.
The loss went to pitcher Jay White. The complete game was Schram’s second one of the season.
“It was a great defensive game. I was pleased with the pitching and Russell Mahaffey led the team well,” Mustangs’ head coach Matt Neville said.
East Lincoln is now 5-4 on the season.
